what are some of the grocery items that you are flexible on in terms of whether it should be name brand or generic?
and what are some of the things that should just never be bought generic…
For me its cheese and paper towels. Kraft and Bounty all the way…i think almost everything else I can go for generic (well depends on my budget at the time)…
I learned an interesting thing in my business class. Some generic products are manufactured by name brand companies. check the manufacturing info on packaging!
I can’t use generic for items like ketchup, spaghetti, butter, tea, etc. But I do like some in-house brands like Kirkland, very good stuff! :k:
I also tend to use generic option for my medicines coz it saves me serious $$$.
I would never buy anything generic brand in terms of makeup or medicine. The only generic thing that I have ever bought and love is cvs' cookies.. oh my god those are amazing!
was watching a segment on v about this the other day, things like pasta, and tomatoes sauce etc were recommended to buy generic whereas thing like ice creams were not
There is one type of chocolate chip cookies that are soo good in my local grocery store no-name brand!! Seriously better than Chips ahoy, Mr Christie etc
The no name brand items I will get are:
- frozen veggies
- canned corn
- canned diced tomatoes
Other items, no, I like to stick to the brands I like
