Yellow, diffrent shades. Ducklings, birdies and flowers.

1) Yellows and greens. Animals are pretty neutral. Giraffes and elephants are especially cute. So are turtles and rubber duckies and monkeys,bumble bees etc. It could be like a "Welcome the New Cub" them. And a cub can be male or female.
2) Or an under the sea theme.
3) How about a favorite children's author theme. Like Eric Carle or Dr. Seuss? Speaking of Dr. Seuss........."One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".....is a cute line from one of Dr. Seuss's books that can be connected to an under the sea theme.
4) Teddy bears? (are netural)
5) Maybe based upon a favorite cartoon? Winnie the Pooh, for example.
5) The theme could be based on various nursery rhymes. How about stars and moons/crescents?

Food ideas? 
Will you be doing appetizers and light things? Here are some ideas:

deviled eggs
pasta salad
jalapeno poppers
Hummus and pita wedges
quiches
mini pizzas or flatbreads
cookies/cake/cupcakes/brownies/pastries

You could also do precious moments, their stuff is easy to come by 
Another good theme is “A star is born” or “bundle of joy” (decorations with the stork and baby bundle).
My baby shower theme was duckies, even though everyone knew it was a girl 
and it was totally cute.
The shower cake had three cute duckies on it with one ducky wearing a pink princess crown… LOVED IT… I have it in my keepsake box now.
Edit: There you go, I’ve uploaded the cake pic. So there’s a mama ducky, papa ducky and baby princess ducky on the cake
