Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Russian defeat in Afghanistan - Zia's legacy
it wasnt just him, anyone else could have done much better without the consequences we are facing still after almost 10 years.
Strongest Pakistani defence -- Zia's legacy
what makes you think he made pakistani defence stronger....
we lost siachin and he said we cant grow grass over there.
withthat defence is not just army but society also, which is disintegrated right now.

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Farid Sir, in 1979 I was only a few months old.. That means you are much older than me :bummer: and I spoke to you badly before.. :frowning: During my childhood, all my relatives used to praise General Zia for him being a strong, clean leader and a good pious muslim but I think he wasn’t that great. I have been in the US for long time and haven’t had a chance to visit home many a times but I wanted to know first hand experience about his rule- after all he ruled Pakistan with iron fist- kept Seraiki and other freedom movements supressed. Balochs did not want to raise their voice, and kept the Mullahs happy.

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

I think the drug problem really started with the soviet invasion of Afghanistan and Zia's subsequent ill-advised move to allow 3 million Afghan refugees into Pakistan. Prior to the menace of drugs, poppy cultivation etc. was virtually unknown in Pakistan.

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

mard-e-momin mard-e-haq
Ziaul Haq Ziaul Haq...

Needless to say Ziaul Haq was the man...and it wasn't for him, ethno-feudal secular degenerates of Pakistan would be speaking either Russian or Hindi right about now...the latter they've already taken up though...

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

U smoking dope? Ofcoz lot of ppl were responsible for Russia's defeat esp. the pakistani's arabs and muslim all over the world who came to fight in afghanistan, but its the leadership that counts. If Zia hasn't taken the stand and arranged with Gen. Akhtar situation would have been different. As for others doing the same, i don't remember PPP crying and guhsing over afghan war. PPP was opposed to Pak involvenment and majority of PPP leadership was pro-russian. Don't also forget all of Pakhtunkhuwa, balooch and sindhi national movements who were against Pak intervention in Afghanistan at that time. For the 1st four years of war it was indeed the genius of Gen Himayyun Akhtar that made the resistance possible as there was no arm shipment coming from any country and pak had to use thier own limited supply of WW2 rifles to equip afghanis. As for defense, Bhutto sahib may have started the nuclear program and Nawaz shareef may have had it tested it, but Pak had the bomb by 80's. His famous cricket dimplomacy helped put India in its place and kept the russian invasion inside afghan borders all the while keeping India at bay and having strong relationship with Bangladesh and Iran. So yeah he did good for defense.

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Murghee ya Buthakh, Na-mard Badbakhth
Ziaul Haq Jiaul Haq.....

Good riddance. What an ugly, sorry excuse of a human being to ever walk the face of earth......may he rot in hell till eternity and after......charlatan, shaitan ke nasal....

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Hmmmmm.....u forgot to mention US$'s, CIA, MI5, Stinger's and all other Western support systems which were the MAIN reason for Soviet defeat. Not your opportunisitc, mediocre army generals. And pleeeeeeze, no more of this Gen Hameed Gul propaganda (WW2 rifles) ok, he is a liar and opportunist. Even Darra by that time was producing automatic assault weapons.

As for PPP and other nationalist parties opposing the war, well here we are today, and guess what they were right and 'those' idiots were wrong. Soviet were going to disintegrate anyways, Afghanistan was always going to be our neighbour, Jia ul Haq'a meglomania, arab interference and US$'s ceated this mess we have today.

So may Jiia and his cronies rot in hell.....

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

Considering how mush misery and destruction he brought to Pakistan, we can be sure hell is his destination

Re: Gen. ZIA UL-HAQ

1st of all its is Zeeeeeeeeeeia not jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia, 2nd 1st four yars in resistance there was no american arm help to the struggle in afghanistan stinger came at the end of war and yes they were the final straw that broke russian proverbial back. As to your saying that existance of something is a prove that they r right, then I guess existence of nazi movements are proof that hitler was right. Gulbadeen Hikmatyaar, jalal-ud-din haqqani are still alive and fighting in afghanistan so i guess the viva la resistance'. As for PPP n other nationalist secular parties well exist they do fractured they stand, while all parties that backed intervention in Afghanistan are stronger then before. As for your communists and ethinic parties most of them dun even exist. The mess you so refer was created by same secular forces who never had the stomach. It is on the record that junejo signed the peace treaty that Zia opposed because he knew that it will not work. And the mess is totally with US and the world who never initiated a talk with Talibaan. So my freind as much as I like Zia, the man was not without hsi fault. Once again all I am saying he did some good and that should be remembered too.
