Is gel eyeliner safe to use inside the eye or on waterline? Just wondering if anybody has tried this.
I use it all the time. MAC blacktrack fluidline or Catrice Gel Liner. Works fine for me however using a pencil liner is easier

I find Bobbi browns much nicer than Mac. For a similar effect try Barry Ms waterproof pencils. They are GREAT. Goes on like a pencil and then literally not budge till you remove your make up. Awesome.

I have a lot of friends who do that. I wouldn't imagine using gel eyeliners in my waterline. I can only use the MAC waterproof pencil eyeliner inside my eyes. Everything else just burns. :(

Gel liner is amazing for the waterline. I’ve tried it. NEVER smudges.
I use the Smashbox gel liner.
For a drug store brand, I’ve read so many rave reviews for Maybelline’s gel liner. Once I’m done with my Smashbox, I’m definitely saving money by using the Maybelline gel liner instead.

Thanks for the reviews, I was hesitant to try it because it didn't feel safe but my pencil eye liner always smudges so I am going to have to try out the alternate.

The key with gel eyeliner, especially when using on the waterline, is to ensure your brush is gentle and clean and you don't double dip it.
Always apply the gel to your clean hand and then apply to the brush rather than dipping the brush directly in the pot to prevent infections.
Other than that, perfectly safe. I prefer Mac.

I opened a similar thread regarding waterline and smudges. But I use kajal instead. So, whats the verdict, should gel eyeliners be used in the waterline or not, if used every day, regularly?

The last time I checked (well over a year ago), the official position of the companies is that its not safe to use on waterline. However, MANY girls use it regularly without any issues. I have gel liners from MAC and Bobby Brown. Have used them on waterline countless times without any issues. I wash my brushes with soap after every-single-use (if the product is not dry) and I also don't share my liners with anyone else.

I've always used my smash box gel liner and mac gel liner on my waterline too and never had any issues until the day before yesterday when I read this post and thought to myself ' naa never had any eye infections perfectly safe to use' then guess what happened today! I got an eye infection in the right eye and it's been hurting... The only thing I think it was is the liner I used as I went for the black/sliver smokey look :/

^ oh, sorry to hear that. Hope it gets better soon. Despite the reassurances many ladies gave , I am a bit skeptical and reluctant to use it on my waterline :(
