Gel Eye liner question

I havnt used Gel Eye liners before .. wanting to buy one now … but keen on asking , how long does it stay in the Gel form ? does it dry out in the bottle?

what about after its been applied onto the eyes .. does it dry out quickly or is there high risk of it getting smudged galti sai ?

Re: Gel Eye liner question

Depends on which liner you get. Generally, they don't smudge but they aren't dried completely on the skin the way liquid liner is. And it stays in the gel form for a year or two, possibly longer if you remember to close the jar tight. MAC gel liners (Fluidline in Blacktrack) tend to have a slight gap within the lids and they dry it a lot more faster than the Bobbi Brown or Clinique ones which have a better lid. I have a few MAC Fluidlines and I find the best way to store them is to close them as tight as possible and rest them upside down and I've had mine for almost a year and they're still as good. You can also revive them with a few eye drops or contact solution.

And I have both the MAC and Bobbi Brown and I find them to be equally as good and they set on the eyes and don't move, even on the waterline. If you were to rub, you would possibly move it but it shouldn't smudge or smear around like some pencil liners do.

^ Agree with everything M wrote. :)

Re: Gel Eye liner question

I have the Bobbi Brown gel liner. Honestly, I would not recommend it for anyone, coz it has the tendency to smudge. Moreover, because it does not dry out like liquid liners on application, therefore it leaves the liner looking very glossy & I personally prefer a matte liner look, so I would always go for a liquid liner.

Re: Gel Eye liner question

Maybelline have a gel liner which is much cheaper than the Mac and Bobbi Brown versions (like you, I hadn't used it before so wasn't ready to make a big financial commitment!), I bought it ages ago and it hasn't dried out yet.

Re: Gel Eye liner question

Haven't tried that Maybelliene ones but I did buy the L'Oreal ones like 2 years ago. All the ones except their black dried out on me. :( Which is a shame b/d the eggplant is a pretty color.

Not sure where OP is located but at least in the U.S., even IF she bought something a bit pricy like MAC or BB.....she can return it if she doesn't like it.

Re: Gel Eye liner question

Ive tried the maybelline ones and although it didnt dry out, it did get drier. it didnt smudge and gel dries on your lid quicker than liquid although it doesnt have the glossy look liquid does. It has a more matte look.

Re: Gel Eye liner question

Everything smudges on me… everything! :bummer:
I’ve tried gel, pencil, liquid etc.. they ALL smudge..
I can never wear eyeshadow, pencil or liner on the bottom lid or waterline ..oh and did I forget to mention what mascara does to me??
Help..!
Would HD powder under the eyes help??
