Sharon Says Gaza Evacuation Set for 2005

JERUSALEM – Israel’s evacuation of the Gaza Strip will begin next summer and will take about 12 weeks, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Wednesday, reversing an earlier decision to speed up the pullout.
Facing considerable opposition, much of it from his own party, Sharon said several weeks ago that the evacuation of the 21 Jewish settlements in Gaza and four in the West Bank would be carried out at the same time, aiming for the beginning of 2005.

Yes. If Egypt can control the Hum-p-a$$ MAToos.
In the short run peace may be possible. In the long run, I don't have any hope. West Bank issue is still there. Gaza only will not calm the Palestinians. The result will be Falluja-fication of the Gaza strip. Car bombs will get a response from air and the battle will be on again.

Gaza can be kept in check by Egyptian military. Next time Egyptian tanks will roll to kick Hum-a$$ MAToos and the world will be OK.
Again it is a short term solution. Egyptian army is not disciplined enough to get the peace going for say 10 years or longer. After a little bit of headache, Egyptians will roll their tent and leave Gaza to Israelis for better "management".

Tactical decision by Sharon. So far he has made the Palestinians dance to his tunes. I am sure he will continue doing so in future as well. Then again the IQ level of Palestinian leadership doesn't need much to design a good tune. Sooner or later Israel wants to tell the world that self government for Palestinians is simply not possible. Biddu blood will not allow them to settle down and lead a productive life.
Disclaimer: This is not an effort to malign all the Palestinians. It is not an effort to malign all the Saudis either. Put simply it is a discussion from Pakistani perspective. If you over there in the Arra-bobo land don’t like it, don’t run to the mods. Just PM me and I can change the “offending” but true words. Happy now?

Wonderful.
Let's see what type of paradise the Palestinians create when they are given the opportunity to rule themselves.

I am not sure if you were meant to be sarcastic but seriously, lets keep our fingers across. Lets hope Palestinians are willing to step up and build some infrastructure there. I am saying this based on my personal experience. I know Palestine gets plenty of aid from USAID…..much more than all of us expect....but God knows where it goes....As a matter of fact before I moved to phoenix from Chicago last year , I was involved in designing a new water supply system for Gaza Region....I was shocked to see the existing drawings of Gaza...There was nothing there and when I say nothing I mean absolutely nothing.....no infrastructure, no sewers, no water supply system, no roads, nothing......a lot of us would be quick blaming Israelis for this but trust me this is not the case......or this is not the only reason.... Palestinians have wasted the major portion of foreign aid and Israelis have made a best use of it...Difference is obvious....
The first thing that will happen is a really bloody purge between and among Palestinians as different factions seek to control the region. Because of the wall, Gaza will resemble a cage match with no rules. The terrorists will not be launching strikes inside Israel because they'll be too busy killing themselves.
Provided the violence goes as planned, Israel will then consolidate to a very few settlements in the West Bank that they can defend and withdraw from the rest. This will allow the Palestinian civil war to spill into the West Bank. Eventually, the Palestinians will get tired of killing themselves and look around in horror at the rubble they have created for themselves.
