Israel has a right to defend itself. Dozens of rockets have fallen on Israel these last few weeks and Israel has a right to respond.
There is no justification for the deaths on the beach, it is a tragedy.

Like I said dozens of rockets have hit Israel the last several weeks and Israel has responding by firing at the locations the rockets come from. No rockets or attacks, no response.

but you did not mention the israeli assasinations and operations in the occupied territories prior to such rocket attacks. and i doubt you will ever acknowledge those israeli initiated attacks.

now i'd say there's a good likelihood of an attack on israeli civilians coming soon (WHICH I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT). i will say that, when it inevitably occurs, i condemn such attacks, but i will also note the media's response to an israeli tragedy, and i will post it on this thread. you will see for yourself who is being evenhanded.

those assassinations were of islamic jihad which has no truce with israel and continued a campaign of firing rockets into israel. those members are open targets for liquidation.

maybe or maybe not. when israel took out sheikh yassin in march 2004, it took hamas like 6 months before it could sneak in a terrorist and do his deed. israel's security wall has all but stopped palestinian suicide bombers. now Israeli generals have said that the palestinians have been relegated to an over and under strategy.
in which they dig tunnels and smuggle in weapons and use rockets to fire at israel. israel is developing counter measures to both.

dude, of course western media is going to be sympathetic to israeli casualties than they are to palestinian. palestinians and arabs are sworn enemies of the west and west had to deal with numerous attacks from arabs whether its the arab defeat in the battle of poiters in 700 to the madrid train bombings in 2004.

Infact, I can guarantee it to you right now, that if Palestinian Terrorists hi-jacked 4 planes and flew them into downtown Tel Aviv and killed 3,000 people.
Not 1, Not 1 Arab or Islamic (maybe turkey) would have condemned it. They would have said it is legitimate resistence to such Israeli aggression....
If 9/11 occured in Israel, if the terrorists were palestinian instead of al Qaeda, lets see what the muslim/arab response would have been to that....

you cannot be as one-sided as you are and expect to be believed. basically, when people see that "mercenary2k" writes a post, they don't even have to read it, they already know to reject whatever you write. so if you are not on here to have discussion (and discussion means accepting the possibility that you might be wrong), than you are only on here to continuously repeat the same stuff over and over again. and, in the end, you gain nothing, you don't increase in knowledge, and you don't make any friends.....in fact, you can only make enemies. therefore, the net result is a loss for you.

I am not one sided. I condemn the killing of this innocent palestinian family. But you guys are so much to the right that my centrist point of view looks so far left that I just care for Israel and not Palestine which is not true.

I am here to have a sensible discussion. But if some people are going to repeat conspiracy theories, conjecture, speculation, street gossip, how is this discussion going to move forward before I correct them on their many mistakes. Yes, I do repeat stuff over and over again, because many peoeple are repeating typical conspiracy theories which has no semblence in reality. As for increasing my knowledge, I read books everyday, I read different newspapers everyday, I visit differnt blogs, chat rooms, and watch TV news shows from Al-Manar tv (hezbollah tv) to fox news.
If I make enemies, then its their loss, since I am not against Islam, not against Muslims, not against Pakistan, not against the Palestinians. But I am not going to have my knowledge insulted by stupid conspiracy theories.
If someone continues to add 2+2 = 5, how can they learn algebra before they correct that mistake. Similarily, if someone continues to blame the Jews for 9/11 and Zarqawi being a Mossad agent, how can I have a serious discussion of global geo-politics before those misconceptions are corrected.

JERUSALEM (CNN) – An explosion on a Gaza beach that killed seven people last week was caused by explosives planted there by Palestinian militants, not artillery fire from an Israeli navy gunboat, Israeli military sources said.
The Israeli investigation concluded that the possibility any of the six artillery shells fired from the gunboat last Friday could have landed on the beach was “almost nil,” the sources said.
The deaths of seven people – all members of a Palestinian family having a beach picnic – prompted the military wing of Hamas to resume rocket strikes against Israel after a hiatus of more than a year.
The Israel Defense Forces report, to be presented to the Israeli defense minister and Israeli chief of staff Tuesday, will cite several factors that led to the conclusion that the explosion was caused by a mine planted on the beach by Palestinian militants, the sources said.
An Israeli commando unit used the beach to enter Gaza for a mission in recent weeks, prompting the militants to place the mines, the sources said.
Intelligence information gathered by Israeli investigators showed that Hamas quickly removed the remaining mines from the beach after the blast, the sources said.
Investigators were able to locate where five of the six shells fired from the gunboat Friday landed and none of them were near the beach, the sources said. The sixth shell – the first to be fired – could not have killed the family because it was fired further north and too early, the sources said.
Adding to the conclusion that it was not an Israeli shell that killed the family was an examination of photographs of the crater on the beach. The sources said experts found it was the type of crater caused by a planted explosive, not by an artillery shell landing from above.
Finally, shrapnel removed from three of the injured by doctors at Israeli hospitals was not the from an artillery shell, the sources said.
