**Defending champion Tyson Gay has pulled out of the men’s 200m at the World Championships because of a nagging groin injury.**The American had been expected to provide stiff opposition to Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, who he finished second behind in Sunday’s final of the 100m.

“Rather than risk further injury, I will not compete in the 200m. I want to help our 4x100m relay team,” said Gay.

Bolt, who set a new 100m world record, runs in Tuesday morning’s 200m heats.

Later in the day, Britain’s world and Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu faces America’s Sanya Richards in the women’s 400m final.
