Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

^ It is indeed disturbing that equal rights are being afforded to all, including gays, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.

thats super awesome

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

What is so bad about the rainbow colors. One wouod think minorities in the west would enthusiastically welcome it. Sadly, some have the "close the door after entry into the compartment" mentality.

Which seems to be counter to what religion ought to have taught.

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

I found Omar Suleiman thoughts on the matter quite helpful. We as Muslims don't need to celebrate or agree with this law but we can respectfully live and let live. It is the action of homosexuality which is considered haram, we are not to hate the people who do it. Everybody is a sinner in different ways. We don't judge them, Allah will do that when the time comes. May Allah give us all hidayah and forgive us. Ameen.

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

thats a very fair response. And thats why the tribe of Omar Suleiman and NAK arent liked much by Pakistani school of thought due to their moderate responses.

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

Was watching CNBC. Art Cashen was asked about impact of Greece situation on the markets. Art stated, and I paraphrase - Greece is not the only issue. There is China. And Puerto Rico.

And don't forget ISIS. And this is the middle of Ramadan.

He just threw in Ramadan. Thus linking a religious period/occasion with instability.

When Muslims are discriminated against, there is a justifiable outrage here and elsewhere. It would be nice to see a similar outrage when other groups are discriminated against.

Being in bed with those far Right if center on one issue (gay rights) and then protesting when the same Right wing discriminates against Muslims is inconsistent. And probably self defeating.

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

I do not agree with same-sex marriages at all, no matter what anyone thinks. It's just plain wrong. Not only is it against most religions but it's unnatural!

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

An acquaintance wrote that this as their status on Facebook and it 1000% is how I and many other. American Muslims feel on the matter:

"So in the past two weeks two major decisions came out of the SCOTUS. One stated that Muslim women can not be prevented from being hired based on wearing the headscarf and the other allowing same-sex couples to marry. On the surface, these may seem like two totally unrelated issues, but if you look closer they both reinforce the idea of "Liberty and justice for all".
We live in a country where, unless you live in a bubble, you will meet and interact with people of all different races, religions, ethnicities, political viewpoint and sexual orientation. You might not agree with or like their race, religion, ethnicity, political viewpoint or sexual orientation, BUT you must learn to live with them, respect them, and treat them kindly.
As a Muslim, I am taught to "enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil", but I'm also taught not to oppress anyone. I'm also taught different ways to go about forbidding what is evil. The least of which is by opposing what is being done in my heart. Alcohol, stealing, pre-marital relations - these are all against many peoples' religions, but you don't see us going around attacking people based on their choice to do those things.
So just because I support the law of the land, and love my friends no matter what choices they make in life, that doesn't mean I condone those choices for myself or my family. Every family has a God and SCOTUS given right to choose what is best for them as long as no one is being harmed.
So, I pray that Allah joins our hearts here in this world and in the next. Much love and respect to everyone"

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

Thats one long FB status btw .. I think u should invite them over to GS. We’ve more room

I do agree with the note. We’ve to not push anyone for anything just like we dont want to be pushed either despite having the understanding that what they are doing is in some way wrong. In the end of the day we do have to prove our religion is all about Peace :k:

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

hahahahahaha I have now words LOL

Here’s One Of The Most Striking Images From New York’s Pride Parade

BuzzFeed India has obscured the identities of the men in the photo, upon their request.

The subjects of the image – holding a Pakistani and Indian flag, respectively – are simultaneously challenging the historic tensions between the two nations, and the way homosexuality is stigmatised and punished in the subcontinent.

The US Supreme Court legalised same-sex marriage across the United States last week.

^LOL :hehe:

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

It is also plain wrong to be judgmental about people minding their own business and trying to spend their life with the person they love. Not only is it against morality, but it's indecent. I don't agree with such statements, no matter what anyone thinks.

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

Maybe you meant to write " we don’t want to push anyone despite the understanding what they are doing is some way wrong TO US, just like we don’t want to be pushed either by THEM DESPITE THEIR UNDERSTANDING THAT SOME OF WHAT WE ARE DOING IS IN SOME WAY WRONG TO THEM".

Re: Gay marriage becomes legal across the US

We were in a big city this weekend and had no idea of the parade. Noticed traffic was heavy in some streets. Then spotted a parade from a distance. Went near and saw what it was about. The pavements were lines with thousands of people. All well behaved. No drinking or out of control behavior. Just normal people. The street had some mobikes with the riders - mostly ladies - on them. The beauty was the mobikes were NOT idling. Good for them. There was a stage where a lady was singing - she wasn't very good. But I guess that wasn't the point.

They conducted themselves better than a "normal" rally. And yes, they didn't judge heterosexuals. They were too busy celebrating and minding their own business.

They also had campaigns to get big money out of politics. Their liberal leaning means they would be the first to defend minority religions from persecution by the Right.
