However , marrying a nine year old girl when one is 52 is not acceptable TODAY. What was done 1400 years ago in many, many societies is not acceptable today.** It's called evolution of civilization**. When civilizations once lived under religious dogma and religious law their societies were filled with hatred, bloodshed, condemnations and suppression of the poor and weak and the different. See history of europe and religion. Christians and Catholics used to throw stones and worse, !!! And today many countries/regions govermed by Islamic/and other reglious laws have not evolved to be civil, tolerant, open minded, and they possess no emphasis for human rights nor the freedom to convert to whatever religion a person may discover most comfort in. Most importantly, in in these countries children have no rights or recourse for judicial /legal action by goverment to safeguard their rights.
Now, Look at your average nine year old girl in a free society. She loves to dance, play with her friends, go swimming in the summer, baseball , tennis , music , sing lessons and etc etc. They just wanna have fun and play.
Ask any nine year old girl if she is willing (without coercion by using GOD) to marry a 52 year old man or anyone of any age?. These men just want to marry the little girl so they will not commit fornication prior to marriage. how stupid and insipid and decrepit is this logic. Serves man only and not girl. Now tell this girl she will breed children, change their diapers, cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, keep house clean, and do laundry while the rest of her girlfriends are out and playing. Therefore, I can't help wonder why there are some on this board, who obviously write english very well, some quite brilliant and still would use part of a islamic past occurance and still use it to teach and support the practice of marriage to a child and to burden her life in this manner instead of promoting education priorities so she may grow up to be confident, strong and a capable independent young lady.

thought i don't agree on your "legal age" what is legal age? age for vote? too late, age for sexual consent is what? age of legal responsabilities? age from which people can go to jail because they are responsible??
westerners are too hypocriteregarding legal age, children of 16 years old may be old enough to go to jail but not to vote! what an insult to human brain! if we are old enough to know what's wong from right then w should have the right to vote, and to work and to deal with our money and to travel freely with no parent consent!
