'Gay Cake' Row in Ireland

**A bakery that refused to ice a cake with a pro-gay marriage slogan discriminated on grounds of sexual orientation, a court has found.
**
The ruling, made by District Judge Isobel Brownlie at Belfast County Court, brings to an end a landmark legal action.

Delivering her 90-minute judgment to a packed courtroom, Judge Brownlie called the bakery’s cancellation of the order “direct discrimination for which there can be no justification”.

Re: ‘Gay Cake’ Row in Ireland

There are two different issues,

  1. Refusing to make cakes, which they regularly do, because the customers were gay – > discrimination.

  2. Refusing to make cakes, with a message that they do not agree with → not discrimination.

Re: ‘Gay Cake’ Row in Ireland

Well, as much as I hate discrimination on any basis whether sexual preferences or anything else, I think bakery should still have a right to say NO if they want.
I didnt go through the link but i’m sure court would have taken everything into consideration so I would go with that
