oh my okay today we had this fundraising dinner for our mosque and it was in this seperate hall.. like i understand it was an islamic event butt stilll this shouldntve happened. It was a formal dinner so most ppl were dressed up right. and i had my hair open and stuff and a lil makeup on/ so my frends (..actually more of an aquaintance’s) grandma>this really old lady.. like desi granny.. totally pissed me off. i was wlking with my frend whos liek 20ish.. and she was more dressed up than me. but yeah anyway so we went and sat down beside my frends mom and the grandma was in the premesis. and everythings normal/chill and out of the blue she stares at me and says “kharbooza kharboozai ko dekh ke rang badalta hai. sharam nahi ati. and then she says shouldnt u be eating pizza to me(in urdu).”
WOW like riight in our faces honestly is she retarded? im younger than my frend.. and i normally dont wear makeup to the mosque events.. bu she coulda just told us quietly beta sar pe dupata lelo bura lagta hai.. MAN. was so embarassed liek EVERYONE was sitting there. im so glad my mom wasnt there like .. such strong words. GAWD. the speaker went up like a second ago we probably wouldve soon anyway. stuff like this has happened before with her but ignored it just because of her age. and actually once her daughter actually apologized to me because of another mini -episode like this.. anyway im really upset.. HOW ARE U SUPPOSE TO DEAL WITH THESE DESii GOSSIPING LADIES. WAT RIGHT DO THEY HAVE TO GET INTO OUR BUSINEsS? 
.. i was abt to ***** at her but i didnt wanna make a scene.

I have heard & seen worse. I always find these things to be funny. Well, not always they can offend sometimes.
I can't tell you how to deal with them b/c I mostly laugh them off & People love me for that.

Yaar there's really nothing you can do abt it...you said she's really old, just shut up and put up with it... i know it sucks but that's how ti is...
you can't make a stink because you'll be labelled as a bad person if you do, especially since your'e only a teenager...it'll make your parents look bad (like "haw hai, aap ki beti barri kharaab hai, you did a bad job of raising" blah blah and if u attract attention to yourself, ur just opening yourself up for stupid rumours to go around ("yeh barri taiz hai")....
The only thing that's more infuriating to me is when someone says something abt other ppls kids... I mean it's really fked up to point out your kids flaws and then the mother just sits there "hmmm mmhmmmmm" and stays quiet coz it'll be bad if they say anything..dumbasses

In such incidences I usually smile politely and walk away...far far away from them!!!..I know its hard to control at times...but if it is becoming a habit...meaningthat they think that my purposefully ignoring them nicely means that they can keep on pushing the boundaries...then only then...I remark by repeating the question and asking them the same thing..or in a way asking them is this wat u r saying...(this is my husband's suggestion..and it works:))

I understand your frustration regarding it when you say that "she had no right to talk to me like that". Agreed.
But what I have learned from my experiences is that it is everybody's right to talk to you pretty much however they want & whatever they want. :(
You showed politeness by not responding to her in the way she did. Otherwise you had a right to show attitude as well. Keep up the good work so you won't become a creepy baji for some little kid. Some ppl can really screw up little kid's confidence and self esteem.
Once I saw a woman telling a little girl infornt of everyone "Kitni gandi lug rhai ho, kitni patli ho tum, sookhi si bla bla. The girl is actually very pretty and only 10 yrs old. Kids concluded that aunti was jealous b/c her own daughter is very chubby.

U know something? why do desi ppl do this?
I mean this is what all desi ppl do, it's like there right to be desi so they are always right and will point out all ur flaws. But like u said she is older so just ignore it, what else can u do? prehaps when she says stuff like this u can be really nice that way she sees that nothing will annoy u and so she wont say anything (this trick has infact always worked for me). But if she sees that ur being affected by her chatter then she will just end up saying more

you can be the most righteous person in the world and these aunties will take the minutest thing about you and make a whole big huge deal about it.
