I have been hearing about Gavadar, the new great port which will be the world and more for Pakistan but it has been too long in the making.
So;
-When is it suppose to finish?
-What is the future?
-What kind of businesses have already made plans to use this port?
-What will be it’s effect on Karachi and it’s ports?
Someone told me long ago that it will be like a new Hong Kong. I doubt it then and I doubt it now but maybe others can explain the concept of Gavadar a little better.
the ports first pharse has been completed and will open in september.
the future is very bright, it will be a complete trade free and tax free city, therefore it should attract many business.
the city is split in two parts west bays and east bay.
they will be split up by the jinnah avenue, which runs throught the center of gwadar and will be the financial hub of gwadar, it will house all the companys towers and have many high rise towers, there will also be a very huge monument in the center and will have a revolving resturnat on top.
west bay is for tousim, there will be many high rise towers here, posh resturnnts, 5 star hotels, resorts, etc.
east bay is for industry and will have a huge indutrial estate.
as far as karachi goes it shouldnt effect it, actully it will help it, karachi port is the only port in the country and is overloaded, gwadar will take some load of it and gwadar is gona mainly be used by the central asian states, afgnaistan and west china.
As far as I know Gwader/Baluchistan is a Pseudo Province of Sultanate of Oman, isnt it??? what I am trying to say is its just like the African city of Zanzibar also another Pseudo Omani Province, people from both this cities have easy access to entry to Oman and also have easy access to Omani Nationality, and also Financial Aid.
To answer your Question yes I do know the Gwader Port project is a very ambitious project, and will definitely make a very major contribution to the Pakistani Economical Development.
Rahi Time period ki baat, tou Bhaijaan welcome to Asia or Desiland!!!.
**Local and foreign investors start chain of projects in Gwadar ** :k:
QUETTA (May 24 2005): Many local and foreign companies have started a chain of projects, worth billions of rupees, in the coastal belt of Balochistan mainly in Gwadar. Advisor to Balochistan Chief Minister and a senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) from Gwadar Ashraf Iqbal Baloch told newsmen that a local group of investors Hahoo Group had started construction of a five-star Pearl Continental Hotel in Gwadar. Another local company, Vision Gwadar had started work on a large resort named Platinum Ormara in the coastal town of Ormara, where standard facilities of tourism and recreation would be available. It had also started construction of gymkhana in Gwadar.
i'm confused, how will gawadar be a tourism hub ? is it aimed at local or international tourists ? if aimed at international tourists why will they come to gawad when they dont bother to come to pak even ?
Gwadar is supposed to be the second commercial port of Pakistan, which will provide transshipment facilities of Dubai scale for traders moving goods to and from Central Asia, China and Pakistan.
Tourism will be secondary in nature and Hotel development is neccessary for any viable commercial estate.
As of right now, project is under the wraps with Baloch leaders confronting the military and establishment in the power struggle over who controls the booty. Provided this project gets started, for guys who can commit capital for next ten years, this will be a great opportunity to invest with the usual provisos attached.
