Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
I think you have had two litres of OJ before you posted the above.
So, can I have large quantities of French Onion soup with traces of red wine and beer battered fish and I will be OK?

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Maddy, you sure it's 'large amount that intoxicates you, small is also prohibited'? I thought it's the 'small amount that intoxicates you, large amount is also prohibited'.
Anyway, I know where you're coming from and I agree with you. I gotta do some digging to find the evidence, insha'Allah.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
“Small amount” is part of “large amount” so large amount is automatically haram, so there is no need of “fatwa” for that.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Captain1, that I know. ie. if small is intoxicating, then large would surely be a lot more. I didn't mean it like it.
The fatwa that I'm talking about was just very helpful for me. If I can find it, I'll post it, insha'Allah.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
My apologies Kareem but you are absolutely wrong here, your employers pays you, what you work for, how do they get that money is the matter between them and their God. You are responsible for your own deeds. Working hard in a liquor store will not qualify you for halal earning either; there are variations my friend… I hope you were not serious there^

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
In his book “The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam”, Sheikh Yousaf Al-Qaradawi wrote:
Whatever Intoxicates in Large Amounts is Haram in Any Amount
Islam takes an uncompromising stand in prohibiting intoxicants, regardless of whether the amount is little or much. If an individual is permitted to take but a single step along this road, other steps follow; he starts walking and then running, and does not stop at any stage. This is why the Prophet (peace be on him) said, “Of that which intoxicates in a large amount, a small amount is haram.” (Reported by Ahmad Abu Daoud, and al-Tirmidhi. )
And again, “If a bucketful intoxicates, a sip of it is haram.” (Reported by Ahmad Abu Daoud, and al-Tirmidhi.)
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
alright, he as an ordinary person getting confused…but mullah , despite getting all the religious education still is confused…hmmmm
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Maybe my post had a wrong impression. It was meant to be against use of alcohol. Please read again. Even small quantity is bad what I meant and research was paid by the companies to fool people.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
doesn’t seem to be an ordinary person to me, honestly at times he seems to be more educated than lots of people here especially understanding of “Quran” and here he is casting doubt on his own knowledge.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Friends does it really matter how much the amount of alcohol is in Gatorade or any other product, it is still haraam.
It is better to be safe then sorry, and avoid suspectable products.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Are you going to be avoiding orange juice too now?
That was freshly squeezed orange juice that contained over 300mg of alcohol in every litre, so that means fresh oranges have alcohol in them too.
Are you saying that oranges are haraam?
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
maddy, which "alochol" is present in Orange juice? Ethanol or Methanol? I think only one of them is known to cause intoxication.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
What about Listerine?
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Both are present. Orange juice has 8 times more ethanol in it than methanol. This can be seen in the link I gave earlier.
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Listerine is over 25% alcohol, making it stronger than beer. (http://www.straightdope.com/columns/050204.html)
You wouldn’t wash your mouth out with beer or wine and therefore I don’t wash mine out with Listerine.
Alcohol can be absorbed though the lining of your mouth. Therefore, I don’t use Listerine at all.
If drunk enough, it can intoxicate you since it is much more alcoholic than beer which does intoxicate.
I’ll take this opportunity to point out that Crest Pro-Health Rinse mouthwash is alcohol-free. You should all buy it instead of Listerine ![]()
Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!
Who needs gatorade anyway? Whatever happened to plain water?
Sincerely,
