Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

that’s actually funny PA. However, humor is haraam so your ibaadats will not be accepted for two shakes of a rabbits tail or until the cows come home, whichever comes first.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

after what i did to them the cows may not come home at all so a shake of a rabbit tail it is..

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

  1. It's always best to call and check for the ingredients. If you carefully read, it states that it may contain traces of alcohol (or something to that effect).

  2. If you were to drink gatorade on an empty stomach and have enough to fill you up, would it intoxicate you? I doubt it.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

Exactly, Since no quantity of gatorade is known to intoxicate a person, how con gatorade be considered an intoxicating substance and thus be haraam?

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

^ :k:

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

So I can eat beer-battered fried Cod fillets and french onion soup containing some red wine. None of the two will intoxicate me.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

Some Jews eat strictly Kosher and some even eat pork...

Same in Islam, but the Muslims who follow strict dietary laws are made to feel degraded by the liberal and tolerant minded Muslims...How rude...

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

I have a few fatawa to share that really helped me. One of which was recieved over the phone where I actually spoke to a scholar and got my doubts and misconceptions cleared up, alhamdulillah. There was also another one with another local scholar. However, a couple (or a few more) others were online and I'll try to dig those up if I can, insha'Allah.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

Who put the gun to your head forcing you to eat haraam?

Eat whatever you like but what’s the fault of mullahs here??

No one is putting gun to your head if you eat them either. Its all your act here. So don’t be scared! Enjoy haraam if you like.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

Well, its not the quantity to intoxicate. Quran did say Alcohol has benefit but more harm. Small amount over time is harmful. (cirrhosis, memory impairment, lack of balance)

There are research studies showing moderate consumption of alcohol beneficial for heart only. These were funded mostly by alcohol companies to promote alcohol…!!!

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

^^

Some people voiced their opinion based on their knowledge…No biggie…

But the voicers were good Muslims and were commenting on Islam which is against the Islam of these tolerant and liberal people…That is a strict nono…

You can curse Islam, the Prophet :saw:, Allah :swt:, Muslims, Mullahs, Wahabbis, Slafis, fundos and it’s all right to these mod-Muslims…

But Allah forbid, should a good Muslim try to guide someone to what he thinks is the correct path…Then it’s anarchy, chaos, insult, abuse and hatred all rolled into one…

It’s quite funny…

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

I think if we need to refer to scholars over every tiny thing like Gatorade, then there is something lacking in our approach. It's called common sense.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

^^

They say the most stupid question is a question not asked...

Some people have issues, and that's how they resolve them...What's it any business of ours mocking these people...Why can't we let people lead their lives any way they want without us poking our highly evolved and intellectual brains into other people's business?

If someone wants to ask if water is Haram, heck, they have their reasons...But no...I am the wisest of the wise hence I will make it my problem to butt into other people's problems...

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

AND

In that case, you had better stop drinking orange juice. Since fresh orange juice has 380mg of naturally occuring alcohol (the same alcohol as found in wine) in every litre, this means that orange juice is clearly haraam by your logic.

http://www.sweetpoison.com/articles/dr-woodrow-monte10.htmlFresh orange juices can have very little methanol (0.8 mg/liter), and have a concomitant ethyl alcohol content of 380 mg/liter

The scholar who’s opinion I follow on the matter stated, based on hadith, that if a large amount of a substance intoxicates, then a small amount is also haraam.

For funguy’s example, a large amount of beer or wine is known to intoxicate, so even a small amount is haraam. Hence the beer-battered cod and soup would not be permitted.

On the other hand, a large amount of orange juice or Gatorade has never been shown to intoxicate anyone, so small amounts are also allowed. Despite containing alcohol, orange juice cannot be considered to be an intoxicating substance and is therefore halal. Ditto with Gatorade and other fruit juices such as Lucozade in the UK.

Re: Gatorade is HARAAM!

They also say keep quiet and let people think you’re a fool, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The point is, posting questions (however inane) on an online bulletin board doesn’t constitute pursuit of Islamic knowledge, IMO. On a bulletin board you will have all sorts of ignorant people like me voicing their opinions, who are not qualified to pass fatwas. I am sure if a person has any serious questions, they can find much better sources for their answers.
