Gately 'died of natural causes'

**The body of the late Boyzone star Stephen Gately could be released by the Spanish authorities later, a court official has said.**If post-mortem results reveal no suspicious circumstances over his death on Saturday, then the family will be able to fly him back to Ireland.

The 33-year-old was at his holiday home in Majorca when he was found dead.

Speaking to GMTV, the family’s lawyer said: “We are absolutely happy that there is no foul play.”

Gerald Kean said Gately’s family were certain no drugs had been involved and they did not suspect suicide.

Some newspapers have suggested the star could have died after drinking heavily, but Mr Kean said the family did not agree with that either.

“We are not saying he was not drinking but eight hours is not something we accept,” Mr Kean said.

“Their sole purpose and function at the moment is to try and get their son and brother home as quickly as possible,” he said.

The post-mortem examination result is due to be released around lunchtime, but toxicology tests may take longer.

Boyzone members flew out to Majorca to comfort the singer’s civil partner Andrew Cowles, but they have returned home now.

A spokesman for the band said: "All the boys are home now. They went there to pay their respects and start dealing with the fall-out of the situation.

“However, it’s clear that them being there at the moment is bringing a lot more attention to the situation.”

On Sunday night Boyzone manager Louis Walsh pulled out of appearing on the X Factor out of respect to the singer.

It is believed that Gately died after falling asleep on a sofa after a night out in the city of Palma.

Police said there were “no signs of suspicious circumstances”.

It had been widely reported that Gately and Cowles returned to their luxury holiday apartment with another man.

Gately’s boy band enjoyed huge success in the 1990s, scoring six UK number one singles.

They reformed in 2007 before embarking on a 29-date tour in the summer of 2008.
