Gasquet cleared of drug charges

**Frenchman Richard Gasquet will discover on Thursday whether he will have to serve a longer ban after testing positive for cocaine.**An International Tennis Federation (ITF) panel cleared him two-and-a-half months into a 12-month ban in July.

It accepted the substance had got into his system after kissing a woman.

But the ITF and the World Anti-Doping Agency appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) and are seeking a ban of up to two years.

The 23-year-old attended a Cas hearing in Switzerland last month and the court will reveal its verdict at 1630 GMT on Thursday.

Gasquet has previously said that the drug got into his system after he kissed the woman in a nightclub in Miami.

The tribunal supported his claim and felt that because “no more than a grain of salt” was recorded in the sample a long ban would have been an injustice.

Gasquet tested positive following a urine sample at the Sony Ericsson Open in Florida in March, after he withdrew from the tournament because of a shoulder injury.
