Why has this guy been scoring centuries against Kenyans and Namibians and getting out on the first ball against teams like Pakistan and NZ? ![]()
he is the Maharaja.
^ The Maharaja afraid of fast bowlers. ![]()
Ganguly was out first ball against NZ ?? Did you see the same match which I saw ??
The same reason pakistan could only beat those minnow teams.......cause they are just hype.
Well he hardly made into double figures against better teams. But its always nice to go out in a WC final with a century. But he will not score more then 20 in the final ;)
what is this all about, I don’t get it. whether he played against “minnow” and scored a century… how many of our batsmen scored century against anyone? the ONLY Saeed! :k:. How many 50+ from our side?
lets give the credit where its due.
bottomline: they are playing the final, not us.
^ Absolutely true.. A century is a century whether it's against Kenya or Australia. Give him credit.
Good job Capt.Saurov Ganguly! Great knock. Good to see Indian batting line up taking charge. Well done bowlers also.
Here is hoping praying and best wishes for India winning the final and becoming World champions! Hurray!
A thread which was created to make fun of him and bash him, I chose this same thread to celebrate his success and congratulate him for taking his team to the finals.
**India’s captain fantastic **
By Thrasy Petropoulos
BBC Sport in Durban
**It was the gesture of an impassioned man. A characteristic short-arm pull over wide mid-wicket followed by an instinctive swivel towards his cheering team-mates. **
Sourav Ganguly had just reached his third century of the World Cup - and 21st in all one-dayers - by striking Martin Suji for his fifth six in the semi-final against Kenya.
As a captain and a player he had been slated by Indian cricketers turned television pundits earlier in the tournament.
But this was not a moment for self-promotion.
His clenched right wrist and beaming smile were aimed at the players who stood to applaud.
Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammad Azharuddin may enjoy a status as batsmen that he will never attain but neither of his predecessors enjoyed the unquestioned loyalty of his men that Ganguly has earned.
And neither, for that matter, captained India to a World Cup final.
The Ganguly story is a fascinating one.
**Born into Indian aristocracy, he still lives in his family home in Behala, in the old part of the city, along with an assortment of brothers, sisters and nearly 40 cousins, uncles and aunts. **
His family had a wall built between their house and their neighbours when Sourav, the younger of two brothers, showed a little too much interest in Dona, the girl next door.
Ganguly and Tendulkar have been in sparkling form in the World Cup
Ever his own man, Ganguly returned from England in 1996 with a boldness garnered from a successful maiden tour in which he scored a century on his Test debut and promptly eloped with his childhood sweetheart.
He once strayed into the arms of a Bollywood actress - a temptation which almost cost him his marriage before the same families that had tried to keep the couple apart fought to reunite them.
For his penance he was obliged to write a column which was published widely across India in which he professed his love for his wife.
His reward was the saviour of his marriage and eventually a daughter - named Sana, a combination of his and his wife’s names.
**Those same contradictory qualities of hot-headedness and touching humility are apparent in his cricket. **
A naturally confrontational character, he is none the less instinctively protective of his players.
**Where previous senior Indian cricketers have regarded youngsters as a threat, Ganguly has gone out of his way to nurture emerging talent.
The Indian team has been the most settled of the World Cup, with the only selection dilemma being between Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble - the hardest decision of his career, as Ganguly put it. **
Tendulkar and Ganguly have clearly led the way, but three of their key batsmen (Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif) and three of their bowlers (Zaheer Khan, Hashish Nehra and Harbhajan) are under 25.
The average age of the squad is only 26. Australia’s is 30.
Clearly, the credit for that goes beyond Ganguly but it is a team built in his self-confident image.
**And if there is one thing he has learnt in his 30 years - it is how to pick a winner. **
A lifelong football fan, he was one of the few to be celebrating in England last year when his other childhood passion, Brazil, knocked that country out of the World Cup.
^ What does this article have to do with the fact that this guy cannot deal with quality pace bowling?
Kareem, why do you say that Ganguly cant deal with pace bowling ?? Just because he has been out couple of times to some excellent balls does not mean that he cant play fast bowling.
You said he was out first ball against NZ which is a lie, Against Pakistan He was out LBW to Waqar and it was because of some intelligent bowling by Waqar, He set him up by bringing 2 slips and then bowling him at the stump while Ganguly was thinking that he would keep the ball at off stump. Once again I would suggest you to go and watch the NZ match and look at the ball he got out to. If you had any doubts about Ganguly's batting against fast bowlers - Go and watch his 141 he made in Adelaide against the Likes of Akrams and Rawalpindis.
There are many more games, please let me know If you want to know about them. :)
^ It feels a lot better to forget about all the war nonsense and just watch this guy give expression to his thoughts - Did you see his sixes? What quality bowling yaar? kuch hein nahi hei tho ye kyaa karega? Apna Shoib jaisa quality hai kyaa aur kuch?

Who cares about his accomplisment. Give me the juice, who was the unlucky actress? Pholan devi? lol.. I'm really curious to know?
I will take it personally if he ever touched Twinkle khana or Preity Zinta :)
it was the new fag who dances like a girl, don't know his name.
Re: Ganguly
…Why has this guy been scoring centuries against Kenyans and Namibians and getting out on the first ball against teams like Pakistan and NZ?
Well his team is playing the finals while Akram & Waqar’s Pakistan and Tuffey’s NZ are not.
'nuff said!
Now this is true… ganguly can always score centuries against the lower teams and thats why he is the second highest century maker in the world… but it should b our Saeed Anwar because he scored all the big knocks against the big teams…
Looks like Maharaja is scared of the fast bowlers:rotfl:…
and if u noticed, he showoffs alot in the field…
yeah sure he’s not a very good player of fast bowling , but dude he is definitely ** not** a bad player either. He made fluent 48 against Vaas and dilhahra( quickest among Lankans) , including a massive sixer against him. In good form, he does reasonably well ( ofcourse not as great as sachin or rahul) against fast bowlers. And nobody can deny , that he 's the greatest batter against spin in present cricket :nono:
Overall he 's a good batsman and surely in top 10 of the world :k:
PS: He deserves title of “Maharaja” for his majestic batting against spinners ![]()
yeah yeah wutever… but haven’t u noticed his record against the pakistani players?.. lets c how he responds the aussie pacers…
and what about pakistan? first ball…
and one problem with this Maharaja is that if he can stay on the wicket for 10 minutes (i know its IMPOSSIBLE)… he will ask for something… like gloves, bat or anything…
and also the cameraman showed that ganguly was having masaj from Harbhajan singh…
this is Maharaja
…
The Prince of Calcutta … he is really the best again spin n has a good record against the Aussies … so watch out 4 him as he is in gr8 form now … he is going to lead from the front in the finals n he’ll do it … i mean look at the way he hit 5 sixes against the kenyans … he’s in prime form … :k: :k: :k:
