Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

…when India visited Pakistan last year. Indian team players were also invited to average pakistani homes for dinners and lunches. Players walked freely on the streets. Balaji and Dravid visited LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences) and all such stories have been documented.

Ganguly visited a friend of mine in Pindi and my friend had only good things to say about Sourav…that he was very interested in Pakistani culture, food and people.

Do we know of any inter-mingling of the Pakistani players on this current tour? Are Indian teammates reciprocating?. I am not saying that Indians are not welcoming them but how come we don’t read anything? Am I missing something?

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

Very interesting point raised.

No such news yet

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

im not sure abt it...why is ganguly interested in pakistan culture, whats so special in pakistani culture that he didnt find in indian culture. Our culture came from India.

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

I think since 1947 , when we parted ways and the iron curtain descended between the 2 people, cultures and lifestyles have changed - slowly but there is a difference.

Now you can say with the advent of the Internet and Sat tv, we know more about each other but the day to day experiences remain different. Maybe that is what interested Ganguly ?

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

green aadmi forget that...just come up with another one of ur satires...pls

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

Haven't you already read about the stone flinging episode? What more mingling remains to be done now? They have shown their true worth and hospitality time and again with stones and clay pots. Jai hind!

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

How much is pakistani players life insurance while under security at the moment?

Conversely, how much will it become if they roam around the streets where people are standing with stones and clay pots in stadiums so to speak?

Nonetheless, I did hear about team invited to the Susraal of Shoaib Malik. Is it true?

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

they did get a nice reception in Hyderabad i think (Shoaib's Susraal) and the whole team was invited for a dinner too.

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

^ It was "susral" inviting daamaad and his friends, so you can't say it is same as what funguy mentioned.

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

Maybe that is the reason why our players have not been keen on going around the cities during the tour.

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi

he has time now again to go to rawalpindi since he is banned!

Re: Ganguly roamed streets of Rawalpindi
