it's a long time since I heard that expression AJ, (yabriyanN na Mar) - which basically means don't BS, for the uninitiated.
I don't know too much myself since I've spent most of my time abroad, but I saw my cuz swinging one a few years back, and it's more like a scythe. A long curved knife that is used for cutting down sugar cane.

Nahh it ain't mate. It definitley has a sharp implement attached. It might be on a long cane or a short one, but the end result is to do some chopping.
