Images r still part of the forums while in new gallery u can actually rate the pictures, send them via emails or customize them as an ecard & send it to ur friends. I m not sure but i think there r still furthar changes pending in gallery, once done i m sure it will be one of the cool feature avalaible.
For more details lets wait for the Mods/Admins involved in this feature.
