I hope some of you friends can help shed some light on the issue of failing updates. My carrier is AT&T. Galaxy S3 alerted me that there’s a software update, requiring me to be on WiFi. The update downloads just fine 623MB, I get prompted to Continue to install the update, after which the phone reboots and update seems to start installing. However, it stops at 29% and says Update Failed. Phone reboots as normal with a message saying Installation Interrupted.
What is causing this? Phone’s currently on 4.1.2, and I believe the update that it’s attempting is supposed to be 4.3
Any thoughts? If I have to reset the phone, is it easy to restore everything as it now. I have backed up almost everything using Kies.
Thanks.
Also please suggest alternatives to installing the update manually if OTA keeps failing. I already downloaded the 4.3 files from another source, but it’s missing .tar so I can’t use ODIN because it requires .tar
After two attempts, the update locks me out saying the software is up to date and to recheck in 24 hours. After 24 hours, the same thing starts again. Same results.
AT&T had a lot of issues with this update when it came out. Since its allowing you to update I am guessing that you are still running stock. One way to try the update again is to set the date to one day ahead. Turn off the auto update of time in settings.
I tried Kies, but it says it doesn't support Initalization, whatever that means. So I cannot update through Kies. Sammobile doesn't even have 4.3 listed as a firmware there. The last one listed is 4.1.2 which is what my Phone is on at the moment.
I haven't tried to time forward suggestion you posted, will try that and see what happens.
I had to go back to Stock 4.1.1. That wasn’t a completely clean install because I kept getting ‘unforunately the process android.process.acore’ among other pop ups non-stop after flashing back to stock using ODIN, but I managed to get to Software update menu after going stock, and successfully updated to 4.3 OTA. It’s running great now, and updated.
