View of the Bartolome Island – the scenes in Russell Crowe’s Master and Commander were actually shot there.

Wow, what an interesting place! And the giant tortoises are huge! I mean yes I knew they were big, but seeing them next to a person -amazing. How long were you over there? And what rules/precations do they have for visitors?
Thanks Code Red. The day my group went to the Darwin research station, it was raining and crowded with other groups. The picture you posted is indeed helpful in obtaining an idea.
How you are able to travel this much.
…by sometimes taking leave without pay :)
MQ, your thread on evolution is related to this. I was there for a five days on a small boat. There are strict rules about not getting close to animals. But as a result, they have lost fear of humans. The sea lions were not hesitant at all to approach, but we couldn’t approach them.
There was graffiti on rocks from the 60s, like XYZ was here, but now it is not allowed. Also we were strictly forbidden from taking pictures with flash of young animals. We saw a bird egg hatch.
I met some people who assisted the crew of Master and Commander.
Thanks ffaisal80, armughal, DHTN, MQ, CR.

Oh my, Awesome!! What islands did you visit? Have you been to Floreana? I've always wanted to visit the Wittmer home and see the Ritters farm. What other wildlife did you see? Did you see anything related to Thor Heyerdahl's visit to the Galapagos? From where, and how did you get there?
