Gala Hanky

** What is that old school style handkerchief round the gala called which some older men sport ?

I saw a few old guys ,some General or Colonel I assume at the Club sporting it and it seemed so stiff upper lip , like out of a black n white movie :D**

Re: Gala Hanky

I think you mean a cravat..

Re: Gala Hanky

Well you are talking about a scarf or band of fabric worn around the neck as a tie - known as day cravat .. worn beneath the short collar .... where a formal cravat or a cravatte, wedding stock tie or Ascot is worn over the shirt collar ..

It is the gentlemen stuff you know and sadly not many left thesedays :)

Re: Gala Hanky

^ This!

Re: Gala Hanky

**Oh so its called cravat.....I always thought that was that ruffled layered neck do that guys wore in the Regency Era......

this thing that eastern guys sport is worn a lil differently....more like a hanky folded in a triangle and almost in a a cowboy kinda fashion**

Re: Gala Hanky

It was signature Dev Anand

Re: Gala Hanky

its when your neck has wrinkled and sagged so much, you cover it up with whatever. turtleneck, cravat, muffler, kitchen towel.. atleast that was dev anand's reason when he was starring in movies along with heroines a third his age.
