Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
let me wash my golf balls and see if I will be invited to the G8 summit. M_M watch out for my out of control golf balls, they might hit your pristine white banner.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
225,000 people marched in Edinburgh today and i was one of them! A sea of whiteness and nasty messages for Bush and Blair and the other tossers ![]()
Trade Justice, Drop the Debt, More and better Aid
much better than any of the Live 8 gigs if you ask me ![]()
although, iv just watched Sting sing "WE’L be watching you.
I love him
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
So the march was just a large party under the guise of something for charity?

Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
Must you be such a tit? Granted it comes naturally, but seriously how do you expect anyone to take any of your opinions seriously if your chatting nothing but shyte?
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
You second statement answers your first question and you still haven't answered my question. Second why the hell would i want to be taken seriously on GS? That would be redundant.
But more to the point tell me how did the march in anyway save a child in africa from dying? Other than the fact that whoever went drank, had a grand time and made themselves feel better about their sorry existance, how were the people in africa helped?
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
My lovely. We both lost the deal/bet/pact and I also missed out on the OC. Woe is I! ![]()
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
I'd very surprised if anything good comes out of these LiveAid (sp?) concerts. It's all a joke -- bunch of drunks shedding their guilt. In this farce, it seems like the Africans have the most realistic expectations: they have none!
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
CM,“Second why the hell would i want to be taken seriously on GS? That would be redundant.”
my dear child, you mean you dont want to be taken seriously… ![]()
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
But of course. I mean to be taken seriously on GS you have to do or be one of the following:
I rather be seen as an idiot than do any of those things.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
Im actually quite ashamed that some people who i am assuming are muslims are so quick to judge and label a worthy cause.
Im guessing these so called muslims think that by giving zakat they have done enough, well im sorry but its not. Iv always been taught to look at those who are less fortunate, Muslim or non muslim and see what i can do to help them. Its such a sorry state of affairs that these days people look at what they dont have and aspire to be and want more than the person above them. And yeh, if that means going to Edinburgh and marching then so be it. You have no right to question why and how people help in the way they can. This march was not about money, it was about awareness and showing the people who can help a child in africa who dies every 3 seconds that people want them to do something about it.
I would so love to sit here and disagree with you lot, but you know what its not worth it. No wonder** some** people see some muslims in such a negative light. If you spent less time worrying about all the non muslims who are "going hell" and try and concentrate on what you can do for those who are actually living in hell on this very earth.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
CM.....what happens when you are are your boring old self and try not to come under those catagories
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
miss M, i agree with you but youve got to remember that africans (apart from asian africans and white versions) are to all intents and purposes the colour Black
and you must realise that they do not have the same worth as us nearly white people
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
It is simple. How did the march help the common African? Instead of wasting money to drive or take the rail to Edinburgh, donate 10 pounds to Care International or Oxfam. If you read up on the statistics you will realise you can save 3 or 4 lives with just 10 pounds. Consider how much money was spent by each individual to go to Edinburgh and then think of all that money being in the hands of Care, UNICEF or Oxfam. They could have done alot of good with that money.
However i guess people rather raise awareness and have a good time than donate that money to a worthy cause. ![]()
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
A pariah.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
hahahahahaha
This is what, your sixth year frequenting GS, the only place where you get attention. Virtual as it maybe.
MM lovely talk to me Im hotter.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
i have no words for your ignorant little mind.
no i lie, just one more point.
do you stop eating for 3 seconds and donate your food to oxfam? Imagine that was your child dying. Imagine the people dying in Africa were in fatc the people in your counrty or in Pakistan or whatever it is you are patriotic about.
Your telling me what i could do with my £10, well 225,000 people were telling those 8 men what they can do with their billions of £’s.
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
http://www.oxfamamerica.org/whatyoucando/donate/how_donations_are_spent
A small summary of what donations to Oxfam can do. If you donate to Care of UNICEF they do the same and much more.
Edit: The march means nothing. After all the EU increased overall ODA to Africa by 20 billion dollars a few days ago without this march or the Live 8 concerts. The US decided on its aid assistance weeks before this march was even planned.
So again how does this march help?
Edit 2: If are going to get personal so be it. Since i was 17 i have been donating 100 dollars to both Oxfam and the Red Cross. Since i started working i upped it to 150 dollars to each. The question is what have you done other than participate in something that has no influence on the lives of Africans?
Re: G8 Summit in Edinburgh July 2nd
Are oxfam able to wipe out Africa's debt?
Are they able to ensure African farmers get trade justice?
I can edit too, i didnt ask how much money you donate, your the one who told me how to spend my £10. This isnt a competition of who can give the most money, my money and how and what i donate is not answerable to you.
