I am not applying anywhere, just doing it cuz i m nt working rite now and have time so why not use it to add to my academices or even brain. lol.
I have graduated in textile design and want to do masters in fashion but since here in pakistan no good institutes r offering it, so that holds till i either go abroad or just drop the plan. Hah. Anyway, …
MBA? hmm not sure but i think its not a bad idea to do that either cuz i have studied business in secondary level and it was interesting. Plus you can always put mba to good use in your own work and/or business.
So what do you guys think i should opt for? I’m so confused.
Unless you are sure about a business degree, its GRE.
RITE. But if i wl do masters then it wl be in fashion/design/textiles and i have checked uft, ryerson....and these unis and i m sure most others dont require GRE. But i asked the english teacher at preston and she said you shud opt for G-MAT as it better helps with the writting and stuff.
I didn't write the GRE... so don't know about it. but there is nothing in the GMAT that will help you become a writer. it does have a small writing portion. but it is very easy. write something logical without grammar and spelling mistakes and you'll get 6/6.
plus, I don't know what score you're aiming for. but imho, if you're aiming for a good score, you can easily do it yourself. going to these Princeton classes etc will probably hurt your case in that they appeal to the lowest common denominator. if you want 700+, you probably want to prepare by yourself.
the exam is not difficult to prepare for. get the official guides (all of them), get the Manhattan Sentence Correction Guide... and give yourself two months. work through every single problem at least twice. and you should get 720+ with your eyes closed.
note that I didn't take these classes. but that's what I read from people when I was doing my research. there are plenty of forums where people talk about GMAT. and you can get excellent advice as well as material for free. seems like the best technique is to go with the official material instead of Princeton, Kaplan etc. and that was my experience as well. just be disciplined for about 2 months and you'll do very well. plus UofT and Ryerson's standards are fairly easy to satisfy.

GMAT or GRE, DO NOT help improve English. They are just 'standardized' tests. Chinese with horrible English do well at these exams.
If you want to improve your 'writing and stuff, read books and try writing stories/blogs/diary.

thanks...i was actually thinking the same but the thing is since i have been out of touch with maths, i m gona be attending these classes but wl be doing prep at home too. so lets c. i wasnt planning no do gmat or gre or anything its just that seeing my bro prepare for it i have aquired the interest esp since i m not studying or working at the moment so i was like y not do this.
I say figure out wat you want to do first maham and then prepare for that accordingly. I am going to be writing my GRE this summer because I want to apply for my PhD in the US and thats pretty much the only reason why. If you want to do MBA then GMAT is the way to go. None of these exams are that terribly hard and you can do fairly well if you study properly.
^ thanks. i m going for gmat cuz i mite do mba and even if i dont i m finding the classes quite interesting n reviewing my math so its all good. For masters in design/fashion i dont need gre so i m safe from that side :)
