Microsoft’s web services like hotmail/live.com are currently down due to power outages in the Arizona/Southern California and Washington states. The servers are most likely hosted in those states, and since the main grids went offline, so did the servers.
The services will probably be restored when electricity grid is back in service.
Messenger still seems to work, but checking email is out of the question for the time being.
Re: FYI: MSN/HOTMAIL/LIVE are all down
everything is working fine.
Secondly i don’t think so, Microsoft Server Farms are dependent on Energy Grid in the event of emergency.

Re: FYI: MSN/HOTMAIL/LIVE are all down
It was mainly effecting European/North American subscribers I guess. As of midnight last night, the services were still down. Just checked now and they’ve been restored. They may have restored them some time overnight.
