this conference seems to be a very welcome and well intentioned endeavour to move away from educational dependency on the texts for grade and age appropriate standards copied from elsewhere, & to lay the ground work for originating educational competency based on curricula and educational objectives which can train the minds of Pakistani students to maximize their scholarly & intellectual capabilities.

HDF is a fantastic organization, while it has some issues that many desi groups tend to suffer from, for the most part it has done well despite those hurdles due to the high quality efforts of its real leaders and volunteers.

desi organization issues of
1) vanity members, who are members because its a social thing and not because they really are capable of doing anything
2) controlling older leadership, unable to let go and new ideas come through
3) lack of or little accountability, people commit to stuff that they dont do, or do at the 11th hour putting everyone else in stress
4) 4 hour long workign meetings which are preceded by dinner. lack of owners and deliverables clearly identified
just somw issues I have seen in pretty much every desi group by varying levels, the worst ones have politics and egos there as well

I have been having table at HDF fund raiser in SF Bay area for last 4 years and I believe it's a great organization. We had one on May 17 and it was very well organized.
