My daughter is a year and 2 months old and gives me the hardest time in feeding her. She is still on breastfeeding and apart from that she takes around 3 feeders around 120 ml. She should be weaning by now but she shows no interest in eating even by herself. She always turns her face away when I offer food. She still doesn’t know how to swallow small chuncks or thick consistency properly and vomits quite easily.
my ped suggested that I take it easy on her but I can’t because I see she is going under weight. I am doing all I can and I don’t know what more to try .I have tried that i offer food when she asks but that rarely happens and it’s not enough.
I introduced her solids when she was 4 months. To this date I don’t know what her favourite food is.
I understand that you're concerned, I've a little one around the same age. Have you tried cutting down on her milk so that she gets hungry?
I agree with your ped as well, the more "fuss" you create around her eating habits, the more fussy she will become. Some kids don't have a big appetite and I think that's perfectly fine as long as your ped says she is healthy. How much weight has she gonne under? Could it be because she is more active now? Mine has lost a bit as well after he started walking.
My daughter was the same. She was almost under weight and refused to eat. Would drink bottle after bottle of milk!
Our pediatrician recommend us to try pediasure. She refused to drink that as well until I started mixing it in her milk. She gained weight and her appetite returned! After that we had no problem with her not eating, she started eating everything (especially her fav - veggies!) and still is. We weaned her off pediasure once she had gained some weight and started eating again.
In addition to pediasure you can try adding butter or ghee to whatever small portions of food she does eat. It will really make the few bites increase in taste and calories.
