Hi there Urdu speakers! My family and friends tell me that my Urdu is very good for a girl who grew up in America and I credit my Mom and especially my father. When I was growing up we used to watch Pakistani dramas as a family and I particularly remember being in my Dads lap and thoroughly enjoying Dhoop Kinaray..Dr. Zoya and infamous Anjali..I loved it..lol.. The thing is I want to further my Urdu skills and learn that which I do not know yet. Here is a list of words I have heard used in urdu speeches/dramas etc that I don’t know the meaning of and need help translating if any of you know it. Thanks!
Urdu words I don’t know:
Zulmat ( i know zulm..is this related to it?)
nijaat
bukhraat
sukhraat
sarfarazi
labaik
faramosh
murad
anokhi
mukhtaar
zard
rashk
mukhmati
sanjida/ sanjidgi
niswa
shikast
nidhaal
I may have misspelled some of these words. If you know what word I may have meant please correct me. Thank you so much. I want to continue to speak Urdu well and pass it on to my children..
