Furqan its great to see someone attempting to make a positive change in his life.
couple of points though

being in tune with religion does not mean you do not strive for material success, it will give you an increased ability to use your wealth towards good use. Yes your focus should not be on it so much that you live in the here and now and are just chasing money and it takes you away from your obligations to Allah and to people.

as far as hanging out with people, please make sure that you dont abandon your friends whjo do not share in your perspectives and associate only with like minded people at the masjid. By socializing and interacting with people from all different viewpoints not only would you have a more enriching life, but maybe others would learn something from you as well.

Islam is not about extremes, so strike a balance.

No, it is not. It is insensible to entirely leave behind your family and deprive them of a comfortable life by not striving for higher levels of success at different stages of life. I would have been perfectly fine if Furqan would not have gone to that extreme. People need to learn to balance religion and the desire to achieve higher levels of success. Living in a masjid all day and not trying to achieve your goals does not take you to jannat, whether you like that or not.

i didn’t read any where in his post that he mention he will ACTUALLY going to live in mosque and deprive his family! All he is saying here is that he ADMIT that the faults and sins he has done in his past and will be careful from now on.

Game, nowhere did Furqan say that he was going to abandon his family. Just because you don't feel it's important enough to be religious right now don't be bitter or belittle others' attempts at it. :)

Game: Allahmdulilah i am graduating from uni coming april, and i was in honor roll this year and first year..so i dont know why u think that i am failing school or abandoning/depriving my family? I DO know how to balance things in life and im friends with the most saint and wicked people.

fraudia: I would love to reply to ur comments, but i cannot tell u a single thing about the peopel i hanged out with in past and the type of work i did. Yea i have some good friends also, obviously i am not going to abandon them, I was just talking about the ones who lead me to do evil things

Sadiyah: thanks…I was at friends funeral who was same age as me…when we were bathing him, i guess it kinda opened up my eyes to realize that noone lives forever and all this bullsh*t time and dedication that i am doing just thinking about this materialistic world is gona end some day. I think no one knows when their clock will stop ticking, and before its too late we should all ask for serious forgiveness and get on the path of rightous.

I know i am gona come across some obsticles in this path and it might not be that easy living in the western country, but i hope allah gives me the strenght to fight evil during my daily life. May allah help us and bless with his kindness, forgive us for our sins, and give us the “hida-yaat” to follow the path of rightous.

Game: ppl come towards islam for various reasons.. some of us seek refuge when failing or going through tough times and some of us realize all the bounties and mercy of Allah and seek refuge with HIM ... both are correct. So stop using italic font to make ur useless point look useful.

Welcome Furqan. I am sure Allah will guide you as HE has made you able to realize the truth. :)

Keep yourself comitted and inshaAllah things will get easier for you to adopt. and also pray for rest of us so we can get better muslims as well.

Mubarak ho Furqan…It is said, that when Allah :swt: bestows favour upon someone, He makes easy the understanding of His Deen to him…

  May Allah :swt: grant you Istiqamat and Eeman in your endeavours, Ameen...

Nafs will call you to do evil…It will call you names and your friends will call you out telling you how stupid you are to leave the pleaures of this world…You yourself will start doubting yourself whether you were too hasty in going towards Allah :swt:…Then doubts begin to settle in…Remember, Dhikr of Allah :swt: can eliminate those doubts…Realize that Allah :swt: is as real as you and me…And He is watching every breath, every movement you make, so ask for His help…

Today, a Muslim who brags about the latest brand of whisky he drank is considered cool instead of one who has memorized one verse of the Quran…

  Today, Zina is counted as a conquest and the Zaani like a Mujahid returning from a Jihad...
  
  Today, the liar who can lie the most is given credibility while the honest is considered a liar...
  
  Today, if you can backbite about another person, you are considered knowledgable rather than someone who is a Hafiz...

Today, if you watch a porn movie and invite your friends over, you are a better friend than if you invited them to pray Salat in a Jamaat…

Today, if you wish to guide someone, you are considered a bad company rather than someone who takes his friends out to a bar…

  Remember, your heart is your judge...Feel bad and lose friends rather than feel good and lose Allah :swt:'s favour...
