By the way, personally I don't buy that "who will work on our farms" reasoning. If you don't have illegals working, then the work will still get done. Either machines will do it or other men will do. That is no excuse to ignore border security. This is just a scare tactic. Call their bluff.

Kaleem, I never supported illegal immigration, and I doubt many others here support them either. Unfortunately you run away with a discussion comment without understanding the reason. My point is still that Republicans and Democrats are both pretty much lota on this issue and thus the holier than thou attitude is misplaced. Bush's comments even today call for a "guest-worker program".

Bush promised immigration reform back in 2000 and still nothing.
Here's what the side opposite of Bush is offering.
- Increase border security
- Have a guest-worker program
- Crack down on illegal hiring.
- Create a earned-legalization program for people who have been here for a long time, stayed out of trouble, got a job, paid their taxes, and their kids are American.
6 years later and what has Bush done?

Its all economics.. supply and demand or whatever. The fact that the illegal population in the states are thriving and for that matter surviving proves they dont have to worry about their source of income.. plus there are a lot of political compulsions.. Republicans or democrats- Hispanics have a huge say!
