Funny but sad....

so…my hubby is a Cub Scout leader, his troop is 140 boys. They have annual spring campout this weekend and hubby is all kinds of involved in getting all the gearto the camp.

So…

All the leaders met early this morning to divide up all of the provisions to be taken to camp. The Pack Leader jokingly told of his worry when he had to buy 8 tanks of propane. THen he looked at my desi hubby and they all started laughing and teasing him about what if HE had to do this???

Funny! But really sad too…cause sadly, if my desi hubby were caught by police or FBI driving around with 8 propane tanks in his truck, we’d be under investigation before we could say “cub scouts”.

Re: Funny but sad....

I have stopped buying :
fireworks for 4th of July ,
fertilizer for my front and backyard,
I have converted my gas grill into charcoal grill and will return the propane tank to the store.
The other day a desi uncle wanted to invite my kids to a camp to go for some archery fun , I declined politely.
I go to airport in my underwear and barefoot with my suit and tie in hand and wear it after I have crossed the security gate.

What else should be on this list of things a Muslim male adult has to avoid doing while living in US ?

Re: Funny but sad....

is it tht bad?

Re: Funny but sad....

...its bad enough that these things are giggled over but taken seriously to some extent. My husband as a desi would seriously have found someone else to deal with the 8 propane tanks for the scout camping trip. Its actually not a bad idea for desis to avoid buying fireworks. And fertilizer (even if its the non-explosive kind, thank y0ou verymuch mr times sqare miracle-gro bomb failure!)

Arriving at the airport in underwear...lol...no need though since they're installing those new scanners which can see all of you right thru your clothes.

Re: Funny but sad…

My solution to all this ‘‘Sorry sir , but I am Indian’’ :@: . . . Yea , blame it on them

Re: Funny but sad…

:hayaa:

sad, indeed.

and scary.........

Re: Funny but sad…

But there is a positive side to all this , if I was somewhere in a third world country and there was a stereo type against my kind I would have been dead already. Many of my friends who belonged to certain group and were active member of a political party are dead already. Innah lilah hay wa inna ilay hay rajayoon.
So at least I am alive and I can enjoy many other amenities of life. I can write all what I wrote and laugh instead of fearing that someone will find my post offensive and will knock on my door some day and question my intentions and my political views.

I was advised of that many a times , but I am too proud of my roots that I cannot lie like that. I do not hesitate or hide my Muslim or Pakistani roots and I am proud o it. I did not do anything wrong and have no intentions of doing so ever.

Re: Funny but sad....

so u mean to say its not tht bad?

I was just joking about all that , If I have a genuine reason to buy anything and I have no history I do not have to fear about anything .

P.S: I got an email from FBI a short while ago telling me to write all this and another positive post above. :D

Re: Funny but sad....

ahan.
Is it so for the entire desi community?

You are right it is not true for everybody , some like to live a life of misery and full of fear .
But If someone wants to live a life of misery and fear , what can I do about it ?
