PCG it really depends which mosque you are talking about. I knw of the local masjid i go to that i mentioned in my last post.. won’t allow any “outsider” to do anything in the masjid. I have had some bad experience when trying to get some help from them.. they are great ppl with great knowledge yet the desi committee that runs the mosque doesn’t always have the best ideas
for example, asking ppl to donate to “their” masjid rather than other masjids in GTA coz this is the masjid that they come for prayers but I would rather help those who are starting to build another masjid in remote area where other Muslims are not able to perform their namaz properly.. sigh
Yes, we should concentrate on the disaster first. Even non-muslim/non-Pakistani organisations realise that and everyone is raising/donating money here right now for the victims of the earthquake.
Well, most people anyway. We had Turkish people here today raising money for a madrassah in their country. It was so weird. I understand life goes on in other parts of the world, but it still seemed unimportant compared to the quake disaster.
Even non-Muslim organisations recognise that and they at least concentrate right now on the earth quake victims, and here comes this organisation asking money for something else. It’s a sensitive subject, so we gave them a few cents to avoid endless discussions on that subject where neither party will agree anyway.
