Okay excuse the silly title, but I finally got one!
now wut do i do w/ it? I got it mainly to make masalas–lassan/adrak, chili etc. so gimme recipes for those. (yes im the one who needs a recipe to make a simple masala).
btw, hubby doesnt know hence I am posting from my secret nick
I have 2 ...1 small (a 2cup size maybe) and a bigger one...
I use the small one for everyday cooking...like maybe coarsely chopping onions or tomatoes etc.it comes in handy for chopping ginger.
when I am making an omelet I add the onion and cilantro and green peppers and ginger all together and give it a rough chop...
the bigger one comes out usually once or twice a year....for shredding carrots if I am making halwa or when I am making kababs etc...
My mom uses hers to make garlic paste...I dont do that though...
maybe u can use it for any of these purposes....
P.S....Your nick kinda gives away who you are...:D.....ssshhhhhh...!!
for the spices , Mrs Saieen, put in ginger garlic pieces in equal amounts and make a thick paste of it, and then freeze them… I do this every week …
for the garam masala , I put in zeera seeds / dhaniya seeds , few peices of cloves / a few back pepper balls … and make a powder of it …
powdered cinnamon also comes handy … so does powdered cardamom…
I also prepare biryani masala in it … if you need the masala recipe ( just the spices , instead of using shan masala ) please let me know i will write it down for you.
Food processors are great. You can make yummy kababs by grinding your qeema and all the adrak pyaz lehsan mirchai and spices in the food processor for a smooth texture. Or you can chop onions for cooking or shred carrots for gajar ka halwah (not me though)!!!
my tiny lil kitchen can’t afford to have one more plate let alone the pretty stuff so I told myself that I shouldn’t even bother cooking that involves using pretty stuff.
Sara.. make sure you keep it either for masalas or chopping fruits and vegetables- just dun do both- I am sure you dun want the smell of dhaniya podina in your fruit puree or such.

not really , my mom does that keeps them separate and i always thought what the heck ! such a waste of resources ..
I do both onions and even cakes in the same processor and it NEVER has the odours of onion or what ever ...
I thinks it majorly about how you clean it afterwards .. I leave the processor and the blades aside after giving then a soapy rinse .. and after wards wash it properly to remove all dish washing liquid ...
you just have to careful of garlic .. coz that is the only smell that doesnt go away ... but if you clean the pot with some vinegar ... even that garlic smell goes away ...
hmm CB that may work for you but I have a very acute sense of smell- It can be a blessing and a torture too sometimes- I just have to keep such things separate!!
