they might not be having fun. but this picture reminded me of the days i use to have fun same way. so i might have assumed wrong.
If your idea of fun is cholera, typhoid, dysentry, hunger and loss of loved ones then yes.....'fun' at the pool!

floods are common in bangladesh. there isn't much this girl can do about it. probably her mother just sent her with her brother to look for some clean water. besides i doubt if at her age she even realizes how severe the situation might be.
somebody who has been mugged **** times would next time consider it wise to carry some extra change for him and put a smile on his face before handing it over to him.
and as far as the expression on their face goes, degas is right.

I have been there - seen the destruction! have u been to a flood site?
And I dont think u have any experience of a distant rural village where potable water is hard to get.. these kids are clearly not in a flood zone they are on their daily trip to local stream to gather water and in that time are swimming to fend away the heat. Its their moments of happiness. If we cant provide them with modern facilities then telling them of some grand luxurious world out of their domain would be a tragedy.
