Someone told me about a product that is available in Canada and/or US that reduces car fuel consumption. Its like a cap or something that is put onto the fuel tank cap area.
Does anyone know about it or has idea how it works? I can’t find it on google.
^ I don't need to save on fuel since I have Honda Accord which is good enough fuel efficient. 13Km/L.
I am looking for this info for somebody else who is stuck with a 4.5L Luxury SUV, and little did he know that he will have to travel 160 Km to travel every day :D

why is he stuck with it, sell it and buy something smaller...........else he's gonna have to get a job closer to home, or buy a few extra lottery tickets and just hope....
fuels pretty cheap in america ain't it...........here in the uk unleaded fuel is almost £1/litre ($1.50/liter approx)......u ain't driving no SUV here unless u really dislike any money u got in ure pocket.

I would advice to steer away from these gimmick, instead you can always use few good things by yourself, rotation of tire after 20,000 k's, keep the tire air a point high than suggested in your owner's manual, when you resume from the stop try to gradually increase just dont try to reach 0-60 in 5 seconds :D dont stuff your trunk with extra things keep them in garage, make good use of the good summer weather and breeze if there is one instead of air-conditioning and the best advice I can give you is think ahead before going to a destination and for regular commute you can always find a shorter/less crowded route.
I am sure in the long run this will be pretty benificial than products which can help reduces car fuel consumption, if that be the case there would be surge of this kind of so called product(s) and a monopoly too.
if you still feel you are not saving then you can think ahead and try to purchase "Hybrid car" which you will keep for 4-5 years + to bear fruits.

Gas is about $3.00/gal in the US, at least where I live. That's pretty expensive, considering not five or six years go it was hovering around $0.80/gal. I mean we're in Iraq, shouldn't we able to get some of that oil?
But thanks to these foolish alarmists, we've got to deal with this crisis. I actually think all this talk that the world is running out of oil is backed by the oil companies; it's an attempt to create an imaginary shortage of aggregate supply in order to artificially drive up prices. Of course, we all know there's enough oil in the world to power us for centuries. It may not be in liquid form, but it's there.
You guys in the UK drive smaller, itsy-bity, weak, un-manly cars and drive them to very short distances. Heck, the whole UK is a fraction the size of the US. So it's really not fair to compare your lifestyle to ours. We like to like SUVs and that's not going to change.

I would disagree with that. Logically, oil companies would be the last one to claim that the world is running out of oil. It would be like giving message to the investors that "I am going to die very soon. Pull out the money from my stocks."
However, I do agree that an artificial shortage is being portrayed to the world riding on the unstability in the oil producing regions. With the other commodities diving low, stock markets need a driver to prevent their collapse/crash. Oil is the most convenient one.
You don’t need a large car or a large engine to drive long distances. A 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engine can sustain cruising at 80 mph whilst returning greater fuel efficiency than, say, 3.6 litre engine.
Larger engines only help accelerating, which is only a tiny fraction of a journey.
statistically what is the difference between fuel economy loss due to running an AC versus fuel economy loss due to decrease in aerodynamics when the windows are opened?
route planning is a fantastic idea, I commute to work either before or after rush hour and due to less stop and go driving, I can stretch my fuel longer.
windows down, ac off whe u drive around town at less than 40 mph
windows up, ac on when on highway or above 40 mph
Consumer Reports’ auto-test department reports that the air conditioner reduces your car’s fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent. So to achieve maximum fuel efficiency, motorists should avoid using the air conditioner at speeds below 40 mph and travel with their windows down, explains Gabe Shenhar, senior auto test engineer at Consumer Report’s auto-test department.
“But as your speed increases to 45 mph, or highway speeds,” says Jason Toews, co-founder of GasBuddy.com, “wind drag becomes an issue. Driving with the windows down increases the drag on your vehicle, resulting in decreased fuel economy by up to 10 percent. Drive at speeds over 55 mph with windows down and you’ll decrease fuel economy by up to 20 percent or greater”
Fraudz, Good point.
I bought a 2nd car small used car to go to office - This save me around 1 gallon a day of driving to office.
Whenever I get a chance i car pool. This saves me aroung 12$ a day (including toll).
Whenever possible I use cruise control and try not to do rash driving. Applying to much brakes brings down fuel efficiency a whole lot.
Keep saving the fuel guys. Its the root cause of todays wars.
so ure ‘manhood’ is defined by the car u drive, well what can i say…u know what they say about guy’s who drive big cars and there ‘manhoods’, u dropped ure self in it that time, well u guys like your SUV’s, it’s about time u started paying for all that crap that comes from they’re exhausts..as u american say…peace out dudes…
stewie, don't tell me ure american and then start talking about car's, or in the case of american cars - boats, i mean american cars find it hard to go around corners without ending up in someones front yard, they handle like crap, unreliable, some1 mentioned something about big engines making the car go faster, again not in this case, american cars have huge engines and produce like 230 hp if that, they weigh too much which means they slow as hell yet guzzle fuel, whats the point of such machines.
Americans don't no F all about chassis design or obtaining large power from smaller more economical engines......we american..everything BIG....but not very good.
Although i love the latest corvette, 500 odd Hp, verrrrry quick, handles beautifully............made in GERMANY, because if u want a super quick, excellent handling, comparatively economical car, u come to europe, even japan(subaru) get the work on their cars done in britain, it's were real engineering takes place, not dropping an 8 litre truck engine in a car and hoping it makes it round the bend.
So mister ' proud to be american 'stewie' with ure SUV's, don't talk to a Brit about machines, because ours are smaller yes but, quicker, lighter and can out manouver any american ship...sorry car that comes our way.
And don't comeback saying all that stealth fighter FII7.....F22 crap because 2 words.......GERMAN SCIENTISTS.........ignorant americans...'we in Iraq, cant we get any of that oil'..........CARS?......make a proper car first, then hit me back.
