what is the difference between fruit salad and fruit chaat

One is desi, other is non desi

fruit chaat has chat masala etc-fruit salad has none

If you ask me fruit salad seems a lot healthier but also lacks the taste that one gets with a good bowl of fruit chaat.

hmmm .. I think they are the same ... Like Sajal said , the difference is only in the mix ... some like it spicy , some like it sweet and fruity ... others simply like bite size neatly cut mixed fruit in a bowl ....

hmmmmmm I love both!!! I just associate fruit chaat with being desi & having spices....and salad to be just cut up fruit with maybe a cream based sauce. Whatever the definition, I could go for it now...yum yum

dressing differences hain i thnk.
in fruit chat v add chat masala and khatti.
Some time v mix it in cream , say cream chat.and all r fruits.

In fruits salad, v add salt, black pepper, lemon or vinegar, and also add few vegetable like peas or carrot, and sometime dry fruits like almond.some time v add cream , mayonnaise, tomato ketchup just for colour.

As someone said above..fruit salad is much healthier than adding fruit chaat masaala. Frankly..i just have fruit salad without adding anything in it.

Where I come from in India, fruit salad is certain fruits (mango, banana, apple, grapes, papaya etc) + milk, sugar and cream or custard to thicken. It’s served as dessert in weddings.

Fruit chat is just cut fruit sprinkled with salt and chaat masala
