The arrival of winter signals the beginning of peak tourist season in Harbin, as visitors flock to the city’s world famous International Ice and Snow Festival, which features hundreds of gigantic ice and snow sculptures.

I’ve seen the work of these amazing artisans..not in China (:cb:), but here in Texas! Every year, The Gaylord Texan Hotel & Resort has their annual ICE! exhibit. *ICE! *is hand carved by 40 artisans from Harbin China who arrive in early fall. Every year has a different theme, usually something children related like Shrek, Peanuts/Charlie Brown..this year’s theme is Madagascar..can’t wait to take my kiddos!

“The 31st Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival opened on 5th January in the city of Harbin, Heilonjiang, in northeastern China.”
