The leading writer Kishwar Naheed in her column in Jang newspaper on 27.8.04 says our leaders keep visiting daily Dubai and London sometime to attend emergency meeting, sometime consultations with their party leaders. She says that for hours from abroad on telephone party workers and press conferences are addressed. She says no body knows from where all this money comes. She says if she makes in any month one single short telephone to her children abroad her kitchen budget gets distributed. This is not limited with political party leaders. This also is the case with most of our columnists and journalists. Experience has shown the most a journalist or columnist in his writing shows himself poor, resource-less and writing on poverty of people take it without fail that his own “Extra” income is very well. Most of these “poor” columnists one will see each month their columns coming from Dubai, London etc. Javed Chaudhry is a well read columnist. Reading his columns gives a picture he is an ordinary man affected by rising cost of living. Every year for two months he goes abroad traveling places. Last month he was on such a yearly tour and sending his columns from different places. From Italy his column came that he went to a historic place which in his own columns words people from all over the world come to see after SPENDING LAKHS OF RUPPES. He very rightly said that in Pakistan there were more better places like Taxila, Lahore Fort etc but we have failed to attract tourist. From Italy he went different places and wrote similar columns. The point is from where he got LAKHS OF RUPEES for such visits? He gives examples in his columns how people abroad give tax honestly. Is Javed Chaudhry paying his tax in Pakistan honestly to same proportion as LAKHS OF RUPPES spent every year on tourism.
Journalists are under payrole of different parties, of other countries of the world, too. The only thing needed is that the journalist have enough time on tv to cover.
This pay, they are requested to take for serving the interest of those parties. For example if most of the popullation of Pakistan is in favour of opposition; which is not.
Then if on media to portrait that Govt. is most popular ,then the journalist of that tv channels would be on the pay role of govt. Which is the other way round in real politics of our country.
So they are rich and get many salaries not only from Pakistan, may be from other countries also.
Pakistan do not have any constitutional binding on our journalists, to not be on payrole of others.

well its not just the travel..
if you look rise of ordinary reporters of newspapers, like Zia Shahid, Mushahid hussain. just to name a few. few years back both were normal working class new reporters working for some national newspapers.
the have become newspaper owners to ministers.?
its all well paid and favoured by the political parties for pilitical gains,
reporter does only bit of harassment reporting and then next week they get all this benefits :) money start pouring in from govt in terms of favours and finance from parties. :)
