Hey y’all I found this picture a few days ago flipping through old albums…it must have been taken twenty years ago at the very least! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Kalaash or kafir kalaash, the picture is of some kalaash girls wearing their traditional dress, the kalaash ppl live in the valleys near Chitral, I think the main one is called Bumburet(sp?) i can’t remember the names of the others. The Kalaash people are unique in the way they’ve maintained and preserved their lifestyle and culture, since 2000bc. believe it or not…..but I guess their isolation has had alot or everything to do with it. Hmmm what else can i tell u—well their ancestry is something that many remark upon as being shrouded in mystery, but legend has it that they are descendents of the soldiers belonging to the armies of Alexander the great, who settled in this area. Pretty neat eh?

first gfq, that is a very nice picture yaar. and second i want to correct u something. alexander the great lived 356-323 before Christus. so if the legend, which kalash ppl narrat very proud, and i believe that this one is right, then kalash are not since 2000bc. the small correction only out of ur comment. what the reallity is, even BBC confessed, that they are not able to know it, where did kalash come from!!
Yeah ashik, u’re right, i probably meant something like ‘that the kalaash people are unique in the way they’ve retained they’re culture for over 2000 years’. sheepish smile Oh well good for you u caught my mistake
