From Kerala with love!

..Just to share reading pleasure with fellow guppees!

“Lee” is one of the most common names among Far East Asian but I could discover it even in South India i.e. MalayaLEE! the people from and Indian State named Kerala. Mayalees proudly talk about their literacy level and the most accurate accent of their English speech. They pronounce the word MALAYALAM (their state-language) as “Yem-Yay-Yell-yay-why-yay-yell-yey-yemm” !! Another interesting point about MALAYALAM is that it is spelt backward & forward the same way (probabely that is why we can’t understand their speech!). Every Malayalee must have an “Ungle” + “Aundy” somewhere in the “Gelf”. They are very fond of “Pope” music. While staying somewhere in North India Mr. Madhavan tells his name to be M. A. Dhawan and in New York it might change from Karunakaran to Kevin Curren! The intelligent Malayalees can be called "Pheno-MENON ! Handsoms as Debo-NAIR !! Rich as Million/Billion NAIR…

More interesting facts about Kerala, aka kerayaleean, only state to still hve Muslim Party (of course of India -the original)Almost 20-30% of population muslims .longer than some north indian b/c they came almost at the advent of islam in 700a.d.

only state to have communist government in majority besides W. Bengal .

Kamala Das a noteed poet converted to Islam a year ago approx.

IYER,Menon,Nair,Nambiar, etc are commonest titles, most of the nurses in north india & mid east in the past have been from south,as it was not profession for respectable ladies of north ( due to islamic influence)behaved like moslem women in taboos & restriction dos & donts

of all the places in southasia kerala is the
best place where christians hindus and muslims live together peacfully.

It was nothing but the "accent" that was in in question. I strongly object how you pointed out Nurses not acceptable to North Indian (due to Islamic influence). This is one of the kindest jobs humans do anywhere in the world. Your comment may hurt a lot of folks disregard to this thread.

i dont understand why u have to bring up religion ppl. its a part of everyones life ok! respecting it would be good.

Fakhira, you have a lot to know of this worlds geography, history, sociology ,politics whether you like it or not.Don't take it personally every time word islamic comes. Most hindus don't even think of pakistan when they utter muslim or islam.Whether you like or not or practice or not ,islamic influence is some what restrictive i terms of choice of profession a girl may or may not do.Things were very different in past say 50 yrs ago. There was not sexual harrasment laws,no equality of women value to the present extent,So don't shoot me .i'm only the messenger ,if you don't like the message.
I have keralite friends & they don't get offended by this fact .

No matter hoe deep you bury your head into the sand like an ostreich usman, you are just deluding yourself.I'm not propogating hatred or prejudice ,don't be sensitive to the extent of being embarrassed to name religion just like some sovcieties hold the word sex taboo. You know talking noirmally about religion OR sex makes it more open & less clandestine hidden sneaky dirty whic is what we should be afraid of making it.Everthing is normal part of life &only pasranoia apprehension &uneasiness with them is uncomfortable.

ok . its just tht most of the msgs i get are muslims are one and thts it!! get it. good to c ppl on gupshup r openminded - and ur one of them.
