So I have this friend who was very sweet and nice when I met her at first. Over the years I have realized she’s kind of petty and backbites/gossips about everyone and complains about every thing in her life (including her in-laws and spouse)… she *****es about her other friends ALL the time, usually I just don’t say anything and ignore her comments/gossip but she’s seriously been getting on my nerves lately, especially since I got pregnant (its probably the hormones).
So around 3 weeks ago, she posted a status update on her FB which was obviously about me … saying how she’s disappointed in her friends blah blah (dont ask me how I know it was about me, I know it was, I has stood her up on a daawat as I couldn’t make it)… I kind of over-reacted and commented on that status and I was a bit rude. She deleted my comment.
She then replied to me in an email and I haven’t had time to check my email cuz of work, i just got free and read her email yesterday. She has said… that comment was not about you and now i know how much regard you have for me commenting in a public forum like that, and then she talks about how I never acknowledge her comments on FB (??? where did that even come from) and further said that she didn’t know why I was taking out my issues on her which obviously I had building up… I’m like hainnnn… whatttt!!!
Anyways, I haven’t replied back to her cuz i’m at a loss to what I should do, I’m never confrontational and am usually nice/polite with everyone, haven’t had issues like this before… but I’m just so sick of letting people walk all over me.
Should I just send a short apology email and stay away from her from now on or do I ignore her email and stay quiet, I definitely don’t want to reply back with another pissy email and set her off again. I meet this girl at every other party I’m invited to and we move in the same social circle, so I will definitely be seeing her soon probably.** I know I definitely do not want to be close friends with her, just keep her at a distance… she’s definitely not someone I want to be close to.
I just want to handle this situation diplomatically.**
