Friends of the opposite gender

Would you be ok if your significant other has a lot of friends of the opposite gender? Would you be ok with them texting/calling/meeting up regularly?Where would you draw the line?

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

It’s fine as long as there are clear boundaries. Texting/calling is fine as long as it isn’t excessive, ie constant contact throughout the day, or late at night without reason. I’d also insist on meeting these friends at least once, so they know I exist.

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

Perfectly fine. Me and my spouse both have friends from opposite gender and none of us have an objection to it. Though, one need to have certain limits i.e. no continuous texting/calls 24/7 and sharing of every minute details of your married life with them but then that’s not only with friends from opposite gender, the rules are same from friends of same gender as well.
Few of my male friends doesn’t approve of their wives meeting their male friends one to one and neither do they meet any of us female friends on one to one basis separate after marriage. group gatherings and hang outs are fine with them.

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

I’m not okay with it and neither is he. I’m not insecure or something, but the thing is: we also started as ‘just friends’

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

lol, no.

He can have work colleagues (“friends”) and acquaintances but there’s no need to be buddy buddy with some other girl. She can be OUR friend.

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

The moment you start hiding those texts/calls/meetings from your significant other. That’s when you have crossed the line.

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

Exactly!

Re: Friends of the opposite gender

I don’t have any issues with a partner having friends in both genders. In fact, I’d find it odd if he had no female friends!

Re: Friends of the opposite gender
