I thought the thread was about 'friends' in general. So my comments were also about 'general friends' who you happen meet in the mall or at the resturant or on the road and they become your 'friends'. Not 'childhood' friends.

based on the comments in this thread I came to the conclusion that the word “Langotia” meant childhood friends? correct me if I was wrong as my understanding of urdu is limited.

Well it's true, so-called friends can do hurtful things...but if we fear getting hurt all the time, we might miss out on a lot of good friends who one could share awesome experiences with. So you have to take the risk sometimes and open yourself up to the possibility of getting hurt but also the possibility of getting blessed.
You know my parents are in their 50s and have some dear friends from their university...and they meet once a year and love each other so much...when we're old, we're not going to wish that 'oh i wish i got another degree' or 'i should have done more overtime at work'....humans are social creatures and most of us wish we can spend our last moments with friends.
