It's not impossible. Although I think that if you're searching for a really good friend, the workplace (due to it being a very competitive environment) is not the best place to search for one.

I had 2 very good coworkers 2 years Ago.. they are my best friends ,Im still in contact with them..

Yeah sure.
My jobs dont last more than a month any way 
but seriously…maybe. I made some friends while i was at work but htey were time-pass. Once I stopped working I stopped keeping in touch with them.

definately... ive made really good friends at work... this is my new job, only been here a month, so havent made one as yet. Dont know if i want to. I dont mind just coming in doing work and going home... but yeah, definately can.

I have made lots of friends at work. It depends on their personality too though. If they can manage being friends and keep it professional at the same time. Like not asking for huge favors that might jeopardize the friendship...that is uncomfortable.
As long as people are professional, its all good.

I have made a REALLY good friend at work. We've been working together for over 5 years, she's the sweetest girl ever. However we never worked in the same team or department.

I've got great friends in all three jobs of my profile. There are a couple of very short term jobs as well where I couldnt get as many friends, so may be the time span does matter here.
But again, that depends upon an individual. I know ppl who catch up friends within no time, unlike me.

Yea you can def. be good friends with co-workers!! Just be careful what you put up on facebook...
ex) You tell your manager "I broke my leg so I won't be able to come into work for 1 week"...and then you put up your snowboarding pics on FB.....you can never tell who knows who...so be careful! :P

I have made very good friends at work. Competition is not the issue here since we all are working at very different levels! But yes my work friends have been with me through my thick and thin. I have been working with them for the past 5 years :)

Friends....kinda. Best friends no. Specifically if you are in the same line of work and at some stage become competition for each other. Once you leave the job and place by all means it works out.

Absolutely. If you can manage to remain professional regarding work, and be mature about healthy competition....definitely. I am very close to a circle of people at work and we even hang out outside of work and have met each other's families/siblings etc at different events. I have been with this company for 6+ years now at different levels/jobs....but we are all still pretty tight. It's just like friends outside of work, you have your issues/qualms/fights but are able to work it out & get past it then that's awesome :)

I met some of my closet friends at work, but like others have mentioned, we were on different teams, so competition was not an issue
