Qur’an:
“And among men there is a kind who gives (dedicates) his life in seeking the
pleasure of Allah; and Allah is full of kindness to such devoted servants. O
you who Believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly and do not follow in the
footsteps of Satan, for he is your open enemy.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah (2): 207-208)
[Commentary: “God demands that man should submit, without reservation, the
WHOLE of his being to His Will. Man’s outlook, intellectual pursuits,
behaviour, interaction with other people and modes of endeavour should all be
completely subordinate to Islam. God does not accept the splitting up of human
life into separate compartments, some governed by the teachings of Islam and
others exempt.” (S. Abul 'Ala Maududi’s “Towards Understanding the Qur’an”).
“This type of man- firm, sincere, devoted, willing to give his life for the
faith- was very common in early Islam. Such men were its pillars. Through
persecution, obloquy, torture, threat to their own lives, they stood by their
leader (peace be upon him) and many gave their lives. This is what established
Islam. If we do that, our Cause is safe.” (Yusuf 'Ali’s “The Holy Qur’an”)]
Hadith:
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, “The people will
sweat so profusely on the Day of Resurrection that their sweat will
sink seventy cubits deep into the earth, and it will rise up till it
reaches the people’s mouths and ears.”
(Collected by al-Bukhari Vol. 8 : No. 539)
Jabir (R) missed the warmth of Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)
Jabir ibn Samrah (May Allah be pleased with him) was a little child who loved
the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and never missed a chance to be with him. Each
day he went to Masjid an-Nabawi to offer Salaat behind the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam). He
enjoyed the Prophet’s recitations and speeches. When the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) went out,
the little boy often followed him around. Once Jabir ibn Samrah (R) offered his
Salaat behind the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam). After completing the Salaat, Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) left
for home. Jabir ibn Samrah (R) followed him. Some of the children saw
Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) walking by. They all went running to him saying, “O Prophet of
Allah, we love you! O Prophet of Allah, we love you!”
Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) stopped to hug and kiss the children. As he turned around, he
saw Jabir (R) behind him. Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) looked at Jabir (R) affectionately and
said, “Oh, you are following me once again.” Then he hugged Jabir (R) and
kissed him lovingly. Jabir (R) always remembered Rasulullah’s warmth. Long
after Rasulullah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) passed away, Jabir (R) used to tell people how much he
missed the Prophet’s love.
