in my town distributor gifted car to theater owner as film was doing great business..
local critic used to sak “Are wo film dekho ya kisike shadi ki cd dekh lo ek hi hai”
everyone in my family watched that movie …sirf maine nahi dekhi thi…
but later i watched it on tv and i liked it…:sid:
One thing that was established and then followed by some directors even in Pakistan was that a different treatment to old story can bring success. There was nothing special in the story of the movie, but the depiction of wedding tradition, etc like Pag phera, gaud Bharai, etc were shown in the movie. The same formula was then adapted by Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar to show Karwachoht, Sargi, Rakhi, etc in their productions to get attention of the viewers.
In Pakistan, Syed Noor’s ‘Ghooghat’ and ‘ChooRiyan’ also followed to show the basic cultural traditions and these both movies were successful on box office.

yes its a classic with content I like the ending part most with beautiful outdoor locations.
Hindi Cinema stopped working on such locations inside India for around 2 decades. Now its all about Urban class, missionary schools, colleges and Switzerland / Australia’s locations.

Try to watch south indian movies dubbed in hindi or with english subtitles...they even capture south indian rural outdoors...
I just loved this movie. The movie was awesome. A complete entertainment package with both fun and masti and emotional too... So, for me that was really a very nice family movie to watch and still after so many years I love to watch this movie.
I Love the maye ni maye song, and i agree with Red about loving these movies back in the day and being very disapointed recently watching them again :(
