be careful what you say b/c not every woman is like her and she wasn’t ordinary one either. With a life like she lead - cheated on her husband n got cheated by her husband .. ughh doesn’t portray a real woman.

She mainly painted her pain n agony that she went thru all in her life. From physically retardation to failed marriage n so on… nevertheless her work is true :k:

I believe it was painted the time she went through her divorce. One Frida has whole remained heart which was considered to be the love for her husband, Diego. Second Frida with open damaged heart represents her state after the divorce from the love of her life.

See how one Frida is getting connected to the other Frida by thread of blood. Thats the relationship she was tryin to make with her blood to her lover’s blood.

Its amazing how each n every symbol means something.

ahhhh I found out the reasoning behind having monkeys/birds/cats in her paintings. While she was young she had a terrible accident, which damaged her uterus severely, hence unable to conceive for the rest of life. For the love of kids n the pain for not having kids she was more involved with animals. She had all these pets the one she paints in her paintings. Represent imp part of herself- she treated them as if they r her own kids.

Man, really her paintings have feelings that you can feel :k:

i dunno ..

monkey is Rivera ,, mayb.. i think the animals represent the nature and the reality along with trees and leaves..

sometimes i feel that when u r around animals u r less likely to be fooled tricked or lied to.. unlike when u r around humans.. u are bound to see masks of things that are not real.. emotions that are not true etc..

it was the time after she got re-married to rivera ..may be she wanted to surround her life with honesty and real feelings..

this is my perception..

i saw this documentary on her on PBS i think. they took interviews of some of her former students, and the picture they presented of her was one of a woman foremost. her paintings are miniature, compared to those of her ex-husband, who mostly painted murals, but they are just SO full of emotion. there is one that she painted right after her miscarriage...such a powerful piece!

you have to put her whole life in perspective to understand who she was and why she was that way.

now when u look at the above self-portrait, one might ask why did she even cheated on him on a first place when she loved him soo much. But then we never know the truth - may be Diego was the one initiated or vice versa.

Again, one gotta admire her for Her love for Diego. Man I feel for her :teary1:

True!! I saw one of her paintings where I think she showed this iron bar going thru her body as her spine but u could see her from the front - can’t post it here since its not appropriate. That one I believe was after when she was going thru soo many surgeries to recover her spine/right leg n shoulder/neck.

see how in every painting of her - she has something around her neck as a necklace but not pretty nor comfortable??

diego was much much older than frida. and he was a playa of the time. everyone knew that. so he usually started it, and then she would cheat on him just to show him up. but still i don't understand how both of them could still love each other so so much. which they did until their dying days.

something to brace her spine maybe? i can't remember but i think she usually did wear some sort of jewellery around her neck.

As Hin33 said, it was intense love and one can do soo much in it - negative or positive. They loved eachother/ cheated on eacthother and then remarried again but then again Frida wasn't happy even being with love of her life. Thats love babes - I dunno how to say it anymore ....

Lets change the artist :D
