Yesterday I received a book on Natural Health from my brother. I read so much last night so I thought I’d share some interesting points mentioned in the book.
“Juicing is the ultimate cheat to better health. It is the quickest way to get live enzymes straight into the stomach and bloodstream, and is also the fast-track way to eat those eight portions of raw fruits and vegetables without getting jaw ache.”
(What Really Works by Susan CLark)*
So how many people have juicers at home and what health benefits have you experienced?
I have a juicer at home. I dont use it that often because I dont have time to use it. Of course freshly squeezed juice tastes better then store bought juice IMO...but as far as health benefits are concerned ....wouldnt it be the same as eating fresh fruits?
In the light of (freshly) squeezed juices, would a bottle of V8 work the same way and produce roughly the same results as eating fruits or drinking their juices? V8 comes in many different sizes, smoothies and blends of different fruits and has more or less replaced the juicers sitting at home, collecting dust.

Yes, but we can probably fit more in a glass of juice. It may be more expensive overall as you will use more quantity of fruits and veggies to make a glass of juice.

i'd rather eat the fruits than juice em. somehow the fruit doesn't taste that good when it's juiced. at the same time, you lose the roughage you get with the fruits when you jucie them, because you end up getting rid of the skin and other fibrous stuff. also, eating fruits makes you feel fuller, and so you don't fill yourself up with bad snacks in between meals.
and can you even juice fruits like cherries? wouldn't that be hard?

Juicing is definitely a lengthy process, wastes the fruits and veggies. There are some people I know who swear by the wonderful effects fresh juice from carrots, celery, apple and orange, has had on their immunity and skin.
We had a juicer once. Used it a few times but it gathered dust after a few weeks when I couldn't keep up with the cleaning. I am tempted to buy a better quality one that promises less wasteage.
Well, what i have always read, heard and been told is that we should opt for raw veggies and fruit as much as we can. The reason is that, while juicing, you lose all the good fiber of vegetables and fruit which is required by digestive system and, unlike juice, munching on veggies and fruit fill you up. Diabetic patients are specially advised to eat fruit because juice provide little or no roughage and loads of sugar.
